When I was a kid fishing wasn't nearly as relaxing to me as it is now. I couldn't bait fish because I didn't want to sit still for more than 3.7 seconds. My dad tried to set me up with a "Spinnerbait" lure. Even then, it wasn't interesting to me because I wouldn't catch anything on my first cast. Although this was impatient of me, it just wasn't an exciting experience. The classic casting/reeling handheld video game was much more interesting to me. At that age, however, any video game was more interesting to me than fishing. I would spend hours in front of a T.V. screen with my brother and sisters.

Since I joined the Air Force, the amount of video games I have played has declined steadily and my desire for travelling/being outdoors has increased equally. However, there have been a lot of things in my way. Lack of time, money, and motivation. As an attempt to counteract the lack of motivation, I've made a list for myself of all of the places I want to go before I graduate college.

First on the list is New Zealand. I want to explore all of the amazing places that The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit were filmed. Explore the beautiful hills of Matamata where the Hobbit holes are dug and fish lake Wakatipu where Boromir received his final rites.

Next on the list is Ireland. To explore the Cliffs of Moher and catching a trout at the lake Lough Erne near Dublin would be an amazing experience. I think I may even visit and kiss the Blarney Stone.

Third on the list is China. There is so much history to explore there, not to mention the beautiful preservation of tradition that is still practiced. I will visit the Shaolin Monastery to observe the amazing discipline of the monks there. I will then go to Tibet to learn as much as I can about Tibetan Buddhism. I'd also like to make my way over to the beautiful Xiali Lake to catch a fish or two, of course.

Fourth on the list is Japan. Growing up I have had a strong interest in the Japanese culture. From the idea of becoming a samurai, Japanese anime/manga, and the delicious sushi. I'd like to learn as much about the ancient culture as I can, climb to the top of Mt. Fuji, and maybe catch a squid from the Toyama Bay.

Last on the list is Germany. This country is full of some of the craziest European history. From the Protestant Reformation, to the two World Wars, there isn't a European country that can top the rich culture that lives in Deutschland. I would start in Berlin to experience the history of the wall and move my way along the countryside living in hostels to see the villages and castles. Finally, catch a fish in The Rhine.

Today, there isn't much that seems more relaxing and fun than going out and enjoying nature. I do not regret my time spent playing endless hours of video games, but as of late I have found the personal motivation to make it out and make the most out of my life. I urge everyone to make a goal like the one I have made today. This doesn't mean a goal to travel, but go out and do what you want to do with your life.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
