Do you love to explore new places? Get on a plane, fall asleep, and wake up in a new place? I absolutely love it. While airplanes may not always be the most comfortable place or have the best food, they get you where you need to go, and that is the important part.

Material things like clothes and electronics are very important to have, but personally I would rather travel to a new place. Everyone needs basic necessities met before having the ability to explore new places, but extravagant homes and extravagant cars are not as important to me as traveling.

Money is just money and you cannot take it with you when you go, but that doesn't mean that you spend it on material items. Spend it on memories that you make with the people you love.

Let me tell you a little story. I have grown up with an absolutely amazing mother and the most caring father a girl could ever hope for, and they believe in vastly different things. My mother loves to travel to different cultural places where we can learn new things as a family and experience new cultures. My father loves to travel to relax on a beach or attend a sporting event. I luckily get to experience both. I may not have the best shoes or the newest iPhone, but I have experiences with my family that have taught more than material possessions ever could.

My experiences abroad, which are often captured through many, many photos, are memories that I treasure and experiences that I have learned so much from. Traveling around the world has made me more independent and more willing to take on challenges. Its not easy to get out of your normal routine and take a chance in a new place, but once you do, it's very rewarding and then you want to do it again and again.

Wanderlust is a true feeling, and I know that I, personally, feel it often. I don’t have a bucket list of things I want to buy -- I have a bucket list of places I want to travel and explore.

Whenever my mom hears about someone taking their own life, she turns to me and looks me straight in the eye and says, “If it ever gets that bad, take your credit card and travel the world until you feel differently.”

Life is difficult, and when you are in the same town working the same job for an extended period of time, you may start to feel hopeless. Exploring the world will help you to realize how small your problems are. It's easy to get stuck in your head and your world, which causes you to forget that the world is a huge place that is populated by many amazing people from so many different walks of life.

I am so grateful to have experienced so many different cultures at such a young age. The experiences have helped me understand many walks of life and the trials and tribulations that each goes through. I will continue to save money so that I can travel on my own and visit even more places all around the world.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
