"For all of us travelers, I apologize to our friends and families for the days were not around when you need our hugs the most."

To the friends and family of a traveler, on account of all the travelers, I apologize.

I apologize for all of the important days we miss and I’m here to say sorry for all of the not so important days we weren't around for. We’re out climbing mountains, taking trains, and planes or anything that can get us to the next destination. We’re busy trying new foods and learning new languages, while you’re at home.

We have plans to go everywhere and anywhere that isn’t where we’re from and for this I apologize. It’s not that we don’t want to be around for Thanksgiving or Christmas or ring in the New Year with you by our side, but just we know how beautiful Germany can be around this time of year and we’ve been dying to see those Northern Lights in Iceland. We didn’t mean to miss your birthday or your first day of work, but we caught up swimming in the Adriatic Sea and sipping vino in Italy.

For all of us travelers, I apologize to our friends and families for the days were not around when you need our hugs the most or when the news makes you feel uneasy about our decisions to see the world. We may seem like a selfish bunch, but we didn’t chose this life to make you upset or to have you miss us, while we’re away, we chose this life because we believe in something bigger than being in one place forever. We travel to show you that the world isn’t such a horrible place, that the news may not always be right and to inspire you to see the beauty that this vast place has to offer.

We may not say it enough, but we appreciate you. We appreciate you for always being a phone call away, even if we forgot to the check the time difference and called past your bed time. For always supporting our adventures and excitedly awaiting for our newest life updates through photos and statuses. We appreciate you for holding down the fort, while we’re out conquering new ones and we know it’s not always easy to have oceans and thousands of miles between us, but we promise to eventually shorten the gap and return home, one day.

So, this is our apology to you, but not because we’re sorry for the life we’re living, but because we’re sorry that you’re not here living it with us. We promise to always stay in touch, air hug through Skype, and keep you in our hearts because even if we’re not physically together, you’re always with us and we know we’re always with you.

With love,

Your Traveler

Being a part of any organization undoubtedly comes with the pitfalls of being grouped into negative stereotypes, and sororities are certainly no exception. Here are the top few things, that I find at least, are some of the most irritating misconceptions that find their way into numerous conversations...

8. "The whole philanthropy thing isn't real, right?"

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
