Travel While You Are Young

No Excuses, Just Go!

Travel While You Are Young

I was bit with the travel bug very early in life, having the opportunity to see other parts of the world at a young age. And I am so grateful for that because it gave me the desire to travel anywhere and everywhere. I recently had the opportunity to take a trip with two of my best friends to London and Scotland and it was the best week of my life. I think that I love traveling so much because it gives you a sense of freedom and excitement when entering a new unknown territory.

To me however traveling isn't going to do all the touristy things, its more about submerging yourself. The world is full of cultures and different things that are unknown to us and traveling gives you the opportunity to sink yourself into them and experience it all first hand. I think that is what is so great about exploring the world all of the many different thinks you get to do and learn. Sometimes we sit in our bubbles of life for to long and just role through the motions of life and forget that there is so much else out there that is meant to be seen.

I am a strong believer in the saying "your life isn't meant to be lived in one place" because its not! You should not stay idle in one city or state all your life. Don't get me wrong I think that America is beautiful but there are even more beautiful places out there. One of the things that I love the most about other countries is there architect and culture behind the city. Its so wonderful in comparison to the buildings upon buildings surrounded by highways here.

So... JUST GO!

Take a year off school or whatever you are doing and go travel. Go see the world while you are young and able to enjoy every aspect of it. Don't wanna take a year off? go in the summer! But I beg you to not find excuses as you why you can't go and to JUST GO! Don't have a passport? Easy go get one! Don't let anything stop you.

Things out there are waiting for you, waiting to show you how wonderful they truly are. Traveling gives you the opportunity to see the world with a brand new pair of eyes. You will learn to appreciate some of the finer things in life after traveling to certain parts of the world. And you will be able to value cultures other then your own. The food you eat and the people you meet will be like any other, an the experiences and memories you will gain from traveling will be far more valuable than money.

We are not guaranteed forever on Earth so if you don't go now then when? When will you take a risk and go? There is no better time then the present. So go ahead and book that flight... you know you want to. I promise you that it will be worth every penny. Because every place that you go you will leave a little piece of your heart, and you will never be the same again.Trust me I know.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. Here's a list of Christmas traditions that my family does, and anyone can incorporate into their family as well!

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
