You Shouldn't Travel Just For The Sights, But To Develop A Sense Of Understanding

Traveling is a dream for so many people. To go out and see new places, to experience cultures we have only ever heard about. There is the whole rest of the world out there, completely separate and new from only the smallest piece in which we have lived. Our lives are centered around one minuscule part of the universe, and traveling helps us break through that barrier.

Whether you want to travel far and wide, or simply want to take a weekend trip to a neighboring state, it is something you must take the time to do as much as possible. Seeing things out there that are so unique and different to everything you are used to is vital in understanding our society. Not only are you making memories to be remembered forever, but you are also gaining perspective on the way others may be living their lives.

One of the most looked over parts of traveling is how the experience is capable of changing your view. Forget the mere idea of it being a vacation, a break from the monotony of everyday life. Apart from that, traveling is so eye-opening. You will be able to understand why those in certain geographical locations perceive the world in a way you would never imagine. You will see the struggles they are faced with every day, or the environment they have adapted to that you were never aware of before.

Of course, traveling is exciting and exhilarating, but it is also so much more than that.

It breaks you out of this naive shell that living in your home town confines you to. You will no longer see the life you live as being the same as the lives everyone else lives. With the positives, the negatives, and everything in between, going out and seeing the rest of the world makes you culturally aware. It allows you to develop a newfound appreciation for the culture and the people who are living within it.

Traveling helps you understand the world, something we need more of in our society. It is more than just a cool experience, it is something that could finally bring us all together.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

It's not all morning coffees and singing along to the radio.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

I've been in college for four years now. I spent half my time as a commuter and half as a resident so I've experienced both sides of the housing spectrum. One thing I've learned comparing the two is that my struggles as a commuter far outweigh anything I went through while living on campus. Commuters have to deal with the problems school brings along with a slew of other issues; I've filled up my gas tank in the worst kind of weather conditions and napped in random places in public more times than I'm proud to say of. This is a list of some of the most challenging aspects of being a commuter.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!
