Everyone wants to travel. I want to travel. Fiji, Italy, Australia, Colombia, the list goes on and on. Now just because I want to travel doesn't mean it always has to be abroad... I would love to travel to Alaska and see the state's beauty, travel to the national parks in the mid-west. I may have big dreams, but to me, traveling is more than just checking places off on my bucket list.
To go on an adventure
New places bring new adventures. I want to learn about the architecture, natural wonders, man-made wonders, art, plays, machines, historical landmarks, springs, waterfalls, canyons, the list could go on. I want to live my life knowing I saw as much as I could and see the most beautiful places on earth.
Experience a new culture
I come from a very small town in the middle of New Hampshire. In high school all of the girls wore the same clothes from American Eagle, Hollister, and Abercrombie, everyone lives on the same road, and everyone drinks their Dunkin' Donuts with ice in the middle of winter. I want to see how people make their pasta from scratch in Italy, I want to see a kangaroo in it's natural habitat in Australia.
Meet new people
I want to meet life long friends that I can later on return the favor of showing them where I come from and my culture. I may never see these people again but they will impact my experience there, just like the people in my hometown do everyday.
Finding myself
You may ask, what the heck does traveling have to do with that? To me, traveling will give me the opportunity to see who I really am without my parents and friends telling me what to do. I feel like somedays I am someone I don't want to be and let the negativity get to me. I want quiet. I want peace. I want to be me.
“The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own. No apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on, or blame. The gift is yours – it is an amazing journey – and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins.”
