This past summer, I had the life changing opportunity to visit Ireland for three weeks. From Cork to Galway to Dublin, I fell in love with every part of the trip, even the times we got lost. I caught the travel bug and now I am consumed by wanderlust. This is my travel bucket list:
1. Neuschwanstein Castle, Germany
One of the most popular castles in Europe, It is dubbed the "castle of the fairy-tale king'. It is specifically located in Bavaria, Germany and is at the top of my list of places to visit. The castle has also inspired palaces in several movies and is the inspiration for the Sleeping Beauty Castle in Disneyland.
2. Waitomo Caves, New Zealand
A world renowned site, the glow worms, Arachnocampa Luminosa, are unique to New Zealand. These tiny creatures radiate their luminescent light and set the cave aglow. In addition to being able to visit this beautiful site via a boat ride, you can also go black water rafting.
3. Blue Lagoon Geothermal Spa, Iceland
This is probably the only place to go swimming where the lifeguards are wearing parkas. The Blue Lagoon is recognized as one of the 25 wonders of the world and is one of the most visited attractions in Iceland. Surrounded by lava rock, you can enjoy a variety of amenities while visiting. These amenities range from mud masks to in-water massages and a relaxation area.
4. Sagrada Familia, Spain
Designed by Spanish architect Antoni Gaudí, this UNESCO world heritage site is still under construction and has been since 1882. Plans are in place to complete construction in the third half of the 21st century. Antoni Gaudí disliked straight lines nor angles because of their lack of appearance in nature. Therefore, his designs are based off of the swirling curves of nature.
4. Plitvice Lakes National Park, Croatia
The national park was founded in 1949 and is situated in central Croatia. Sixteen lakes can be seen from the surface and are all interconnected. Renowned for their distinct colors, the lakes take up to 6 hours to explore on foot.
5. Machu Picchu, Peru
Located in Cusco Region, Machu Picchu is situated on a mountain ridge 7,970 feet above sea level. It is a complex of palaces, temples, plazas, and homes that are evidence of the Inca Empire at its height.
6. Serengeti National Park, Tanzania
Proclaimed as one of the wonders of the world, Serengeti National Park in Tanzania is the oldest and most popular national park. It is famous for its annual migration of zebra and white bearded wildebeest. Safaris range from hot balloon safaris to walking and driving safaris.
