Traveling alone can be a scary concept, but taking on a solo trip doesn’t have to be as scary as it may seem. You, of course, have to be more aware than if you were in a group, but it can bring you so many opportunities as well. It just may be the experience that changes your life.

1. You (and only you) get to decide what to do and when

You have complete freedom when it comes to the itinerary.

2. You don’t have worry about other people following along what you planned

There’s always someone who complains “Why did you pick this place??” Don’t have to worry about that when you go solo.

3. You can check out for the day without feeling guilty

Don’t want to leave your hotel room all day? Who’s going to stop you?

4. You’re allowed to put YOU first

There’s no negotiating around others so that everyone can do what they want.

5. You will definitely get to know yourself better

After all, there’s no one else there to rely on.

6. You’re forced out of your comfort zone

Sometimes you just need that push; this will give it to you.

7. You can meet new people (or don’t)

When you’re alone, it gives you all that much more reason to talk to the person sitting next to you. Or just sit back with some headphones in.

8. It’ll be easier on your wallet

Not only will you be spending less, but you don’t have to worry about trying to figure out how to split things.

9. You can make sudden and random decisions

This is the best time for you to be spontaneous.

10. You can gain new and more perspective

You’ll be looking at things very differently

Go out and book that trip you’ve been waiting to go on. What’s stopping you?

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
