Poetry, music, dance, writing, singing and other forms of self expression help people through traumatic times. Sometimes hearing a few words, or capturing a picture, that resonates with the wounds of your soul is exactly the type of trigger you need to begin healing. Maybe you don't want to talk about it, but relating and finding connection is the first step.
Misinformed
You treated me like an object
Then I spoke up
And
Was treated like a number
Silly to be shocked
My eyes had already been open to the evil the world is capable of
Now it sees
Justice
Is
An
Illusion
I hope that everyone who reads this poem will be able to find what they need to hear. Trauma is different for each person, but the pain of healing is something we can all connect to. Sometimes 40 words is all you need to start your healing process. If you don't want to talk about it, that's ok. However you choose to express yourself, keep going. Sometimes less is more.
