Being a conservative woman isn’t really much different than being any other kind of woman, but there are a few key things I believe set us apart. While I don’t think I speak for all of us, I’m sure most will agree that these are characteristics all conservative ladies share. And for those of you who see yourself in this article, I would encourage you to find out more about conservatives and the women in politics and the media we look up to. Maybe you’ll see a new side to a political party you thought you couldn’t understand.

Of the many conservative women leading the fight for freedom, fearlessness is a trait they all share. Conservative women are fearless in everything they do. Whether it’s standing up for their beliefs or standing up to their critics, they are unashamed in being right. Conservative women aren’t afraid of those who try to break their spirit.

They don’t cower from catcalls or detractors, but instead, they dig their (very high) heels in and gear up for a fight. There is no hesitation in defending an unborn child’s right to life. They don’t pause when seeing a fellow woman being drug through the mud. And they definitely aren’t afraid of their second amendment right to bear arms. These women are valiant in their pursuit of conservative principles, and they aren’t afraid of anything the world throws at them.

Another trait of conservative women is their ambition. The women I look up to and the ones that I meet (while they are very few and far between) all have great ambitions and plans to change the world we live in. No dream is too big to chase. The thought of living in a man’s world is trivial. And if a conservative woman is told she’s going to make 79 cents to a man’s dollar, beware that she is going to prove everyone wrong once she steps into that office. When she’s told the world is against her or she isn’t capable of reaching her goals, she will make it her goal to see you swallow your words.

All conservative women have an abundance of compassion. Most of their beliefs stem from this trait, and it’s why they feel so strongly about the policies they stand for. Love for fellow citizens is why they push for economic policies that will help others get jobs and provide for their families. It’s why they promote equality of all people regardless of their personal lives. They also acknowledge that the government cannot fix everyone’s problems, and that’s why they fight for smaller government to allow people to take charge of their own lives. These women care deeply about people they don’t even know, and they use this concern for others to reflect in their own stances for freedom.

Not all conservative women are perfect. As I know from personal experience, we have our ups and downs. But we strive to be better and make this world a better place than when we found it. In this pursuit, we express these qualities in the unique way we can as strong and capable females.

Of course you don’t have to be a Republican to have these traits, but they are proud examples of the ways conservative women shine.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
