When we are first introduced to the story of Ruth, we meet a woman who is suffering and grieving the loss of her husband. Ruth is enduring a terrible suffering but is still choosing to serve others despite her pain. Ruth chooses to trust in God's plan and rely on Him no matter the circumstances. I don't know about you all, but I would like to be a woman who chases after God's heart and seeks Him, no matter how hard what I'm facing may be. I want to serve God and be obedient. I want to be a modern day Ruth in a world that has forgotten this concept.

Sometimes being that woman is hard. It means doing things God's way, instead of my own. We, as women of God, should bear fruits of wisdom, peace, love, and joy. Through our fruits, others can be brought to Christ's love.

Through Ruth's obedience to God, she created a life full of abundant love and blessings for her and her family. Ruth remained faithful to God and He blessed her. We should all be striving to become a modern day woman like Ruth.

She is kind.

"When she speaks, her words are wise, and she gives instructions with kindness." Proverbs 31:26

A modern day Ruth chooses kindness, even when the favor is not returned. She chooses to speak with elegance and grace, showing her compassion to those around her.

She is selfless.

"But I say to you who listen: Love your enemies, do what is good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you." Luke 6:27-28

A modern day Ruth is full of love for God and others. Everything she does, she does in love. She chooses to bless those who are unkind to her. She chooses to shake off bitterness or offenses because God has called her to an example of His love in a world that so needs it.

She is confident.

"A heart at pace gives life to the body, but envy rots the bones." Proverbs 14:30

A modern day Ruth is aware of her worth and knows that she is a daughter of the King. She doesn't feel obligated to show everyone else that she is special. She does not compare herself to others with eyes of envy. She chooses to see herself and others through the eyes of God.

She is humble.

"Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love." Ephesians 4:2

A modern day Ruth is hard working without expecting praise. She is willing to serve others for God's glory rather than her own.

She fears God.

"Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised." Proverbs 31:30

A modern day Ruth fears the Lord and looks for His guidance in every situation. She has a daily conversation with God and relies on His will in every outcome. She knows that a relationship with God is the most important thing that she could obtain.

She trusts in God's plan.

"For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope." Jeremiah 29:11

A modern day Ruth trusts in Gods plan, no matter what the situation may be. She has joy, seeks Him continuously and knows that He will provide for her and her family. She chooses to obey God and remain faithful to His commands; because of this, she will be blessed. She can face the future because she has God on her side.

10 Thoughts Of A 5th Year Senior

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.

11 Times Aubrey Plaza Described Sophomore Year

"I don't want to do things. I want to do not things."

Aubrey Plaza is one of my favorite humans in Hollywood. She's honest, blunt, unapologetic, and hilarious. I just started my sophomore year of college, and found that some of her best moments can accurately describe the start of the school year.

1. When your advisor tells you that you should declare a major soon.

2. Seeing the lost and confused freshmen and remembering that was you a short year ago, and now being grateful you know the ins and outs of the campus.

3. Going to the involvement fair to sign up for more clubs knowing that you are already too involved.

4. When you actually do the reading required for the first class.

5. Seeing your friends for the first time since last semester.

6. When you're already drowning in homework during syllabus week.

7. Realizing you don't have the same excitement for classes as you did as a freshman.

8. Going home and seeing people from high school gets weirder the older you get.
