This past week two amazing trailers for my two most anticipated releases of 2017 were released; The trailer for the live action Beauty and the Beast, which quickly became the most viewed trailer within twenty four hours (probably due to the numerous times I watched it) and the full length trailer for the Netflix original series Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events, which I have discussed multiple times in various articles but will talk about again because it's one of my favorite things in the world.
But first, let's talk another one of my favorite things, Beauty and the Beast.
Belle had always been my favorite Disney princess. I instantly connected with her when I was little because she was a bookworm just like me. I was super excited when they announced they were making a live action version. So far, the excitement hasn't waned. This trailer is just absolutely stunning! If the trailer is anything to go off of, I think the movie will fully capture the magic of the animated film. I am also predicting I will have to see it multiple times because I'll just sob through my first viewing.
As I've said multiple times in previous articles, A Series of Unfortunate Events has been one of my favorite series since I was a kid. To me it has always been the perfect mix of darkness and humor with a good dose of family thrown in. I always thought the movie version was just okay, but I was super excited when Netflix announced they were making it a series. One, because Netflix has never done me wrong so far, and two because this thirteen book long series is much better suited to a TV adaption in my opinion.
I have loved all very fine, delightful teasers for this show, and the trailer did not disappoint either. I love the contrast in colors before the Baudelaire meet Count Olaf and after, the happy times in their life bright with color, and the more unfortunate events (haha) shaded in grays and blacks. I also love the casting choices all around, and I think Neil Patrick Harris will do a great job balancing the line between dark and ridiculous that Count Olaf treads. Also, I'm totally taking off work to binge watch this when it comes out.
Thanks for reading, and happy watching!
