A Tragic Death

On June 10, 2016, a tragic event occurred that no one would have expected occurred. While performing a show in Orlando, Florida, Christina Grimmie was shot by a 27-year-old man carrying two hand guns and a hunting knife. After being shot, she passed away at the hospital from the gunshot wounds.

Growing up in Marlton, New Jersey, Grimmie started her career on Youtube, reaching over 3 million subscribers. She posted many covers of current songs. Her following grew when she auditioned for "The Voice." During her audition, all of the judges turned around and were interested in them joining her team, leading to her decision to work with Adam Levine. She ended up placing third on the show, which resulted in her fanbase growing even more.

After her time on "The Voice," she began to release singles from her album, and another EP, consisting of four songs, followed. She started touring and performing these songs. This tour ended up being her last, due to the fatal shooting. The man who shot her on June 10, leading to her passing on June 11, apparently had no connection to her. This man had travelled to Orlando from another city to do this.

She was a great artist, and this was a tragic death. She will be missed by many. Rest in peace.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
