"Toy Story 4" was released in theaters on June 20th, 2019, and has been getting some outstanding reviews. With new characters, a spectacular unique setting, and seeing the evolution of our favorite characters, Toy Story is a must see. From a kid who grew up watching the previous Toy Story movies, here is my review of the latest Toy Story movie.
Woody & friends being passed down to BonnieToy Story 3 ending
In the movie, we see our toys still with Bonnie and still being played with every day. Well, besides Woody, over the time of Toy Story 3 and this current movie Woody has been getting neglected more often. This effects Woody because he wasn't he couldn't serve his kid the way he was serving Andy.
This is the first problem in the movie. In "Toy Story 3" we see Bonnie becoming closer to Woody to the point where Woody became her favorite toy. So why now does she completely push Woody aside and pick the other toys to play with? Yes, this problem does sorta drive the deeper plot in the movie, but I feel that they could have approached it a better way.
Forky jumps out a window TOY STORY 4 All Clips & Trailers (2019)
The movie also introduces numerous characters such as Forky, and Bunny and Duck. At first, I was really scared because of these characters. In the trailers, all three of the characters seemed to be really annoying. But in the film, they were actually very funny and carried the plot strongly. Forky was a toy Bonnie made at school, and Forky feel very out of place and thinks he belongs in the trash. This causes numerous funny events were Forky tries to get rid of himself. Duck and Bunny, on the other hand, were on the prize rack of a carnival game. These two characters were hands down the funniest characters possibly in the whole franchise. They had an adorable, and plushy outside, but on the inside, they were so dumb and never thought plans through.
Another great thing about this movie is the return of Bo Peep. At the beginning of the movie, we see why Bo Peep wasn't in the third movie. This is because of Bo Peep getting handed down to another family. In the past movies, Bo Peep was seen as a damsel in distress, with having a deeper relationship with Woody. In this movie we see Bo making her own choices with no kid to take her home. She spends her day as a "lost toy" and being a rebel. I love this character shift because one, we see how Bonnie had to change in order to survive, and also she finds a way to fix things and runs a whole operation to help kids have fun. This is one of the many great things in the movie.
New Bo PeepTOY STORY 4 All Clips & Trailers (2019)
Another problem though was the lack of other toys. We see plenty of our main characters, Woody, Buzz, Bo Peep, and new toys. But the toys that have been in the movie since the first movie had very little screen time. Which made me miss them and not let me get the full goodbye of every character.
Now without giving away spoilers, I am gonna talk about the ending. The end was so touching and to see this gangs adventure end. It almost brought tears to my eyes, and definitely is a sad ending. It leaves on a very good note and has each toy really give themselves a mission and a purpose. This ending couldn't have been any better and was really perfection.
The movie was adorable and lived up to the other three incredible Toy Story movies. It has a very cute plot and adventure and is a must see for all ages. If you have time this summer I would seriously consider using it to see "Toy Story 4." It is heartbreaking to know that this was the last time was to see the gang, but I will never forget that they literally been a film franchise that has grown up with me. "Toy Story 4" deserves a lot of credit and possibly a spot for movie awards or nominations. Again this movie is very delightful and is truly a must see if you are a fan of the franchise. Thank you for reading this short review of "Toy Story 4," and will end by saying......
