New York City is a tourist destination and when you live here you tend to not like the tourists. They walk slow and are always looking up. Although some of there attractions New Yorkers avoid because of the crowds, some of the tourist activities are still worth the crowds.

1. Museums

The Met, Natural History Museum, MOMA, and any of the pop-up museums are always fun to go to, whether you are alone of with friends they are worth the crowds.

2. Parks

All the parks in NYC are so great to go to because they are designated areas to be surrounded by nature. Both tourists and New Yorkers can appreciate the calming atmosphere.

3. Eat

There are so many restaurants in the city that you can never go wrong. I once heard that you could eat at a different place in NYC for every meal of the day for three years and never eat at the same place twice. So the food is always a major attraction, my friends and I make it an even to go out to some place new together.

4. Brooklyn bridge

The Brooklyn bridge is beautiful and is a nice walk. The tourists do it during the day but the New Yorkers do it at night because it is so much prettier watching the sunset and the lights come on.

5. Shop

The fashion in NYC comes close to that of Paris. You can find everything you need for the price you want to pay at any store here. The best part? There is no sales tax on clothing.

6. Broadway shows

The shows are amazing. The singing and the dancing all intertwined beautifully. They are worth walking through the tourist-infested place that is Times Square.

7. Coney Island

The roller coasters and the beach are so fun. There is also an aquarium there as well so there is just a lot to do. The only downside is that everything is expensive.

8. Spotting a celebrity

You would think that you would stop getting excited but when you randomly see Blake Lively or Gigi Hadid it is difficult to contain your excitement. Although, you remain cool and don’t always pester them for a picture or an autograph, you do the slightly creepy picture that they totally saw you take of them to post to your snapchat instead.

9.Bagels and brunch

It is true what they say that the bagels in NYC are the best. Also brunch is a weekly event that goes from 9am to 4pm that everyone should take part in.

10. Meeting new people that have come from all over the world

You are bound to talk to someone throughout the day whether that be your coffee guy, the taxi driver, or that person that sat next to you on the subway and pinpointing that accent is always an interesting story.

Basically, New Yorkers still love the things that tourists do because after all those things made them fall in love with the city as well.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
