Visiting colleges is an exciting time. You get to see your prospective homes and see where you truly feel you'll fit in for the next four years... or five, for those of you who will be Super Seniors. As someone who was in your exact place a year ago, I have a few suggestions for you as to what you need to know about your time on campus.
1. The tour guides are paid to hype campus up as much as possible.
Their job is to convince you to love the campus just as much as the students do. So, of course, they are going to show you the best parts of campus.
2. We know why you are on campus, despite your subtle attempts to blend in.
That is what every single one of you looks like. No, I am not kidding. Most students can spot a tour group out of nowhere, because realistically, who else would be crowding around the library like that?
3. The dining hall serves better food when there are multiple tours or accepted students on campus... and we love it!
*Every single student when we see multiple tour groups in a day.*
4. Construction seems like a nice idea until it wakes you up at 7 A.M. every day.
Somehow, they are doing so little, yet making so much noise. So I am sure it is no surprise that it takes at least a week longer to finish projects.
5. The freshman dorms are a joke and a half.
They are nothing like Monster's University. They're hot when it is cold and cold when it is hot, and they are old af. But they have the best stories in them.
6.When you all crowd around one building, especially when we are late to class, it is very hard for me and everyone else to appreciate your presence.
It's not that we're not excited you're here, but we just woke up 15 minutes before this class and somehow we're already running 20 minutes late.
7. I hope you love our campus as much as I do, but maybe a little more so you choose my university.
We hope you find your own reason for choosing our university because we love it, and we hope you'll find your home here.
