Back in September, I wrote an article about a technical malfunction happening to the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, being called Touch Disease. If you are unaware of what Touch Disease is and what Apple's problem was with it, you can read that article here https://www.theodysseyonline.com/touch-disease
What it is, in the simplest terms, is an issue with the touch screen that causes the device no longer function. Apple had the problem brought to their attention and even though it was a manufacturing problem, not caused by the user, Apple is claiming it isn’t covered by the warranty, refusing to fix it, and telling people that they would have to pay a large sum of money to have it fixed. Some Apple stores were saying it couldn't be fixed, and so the customer would need to buy a new phone. This is what started the lawsuits against Apple. Thousands of people joined class action lawsuits against Apple at the time.
I owned an iPhone 6 Plus that was experiencing the early signs of the Touch Disease. When I found out about Apple's response to the problem, I signed up to receive information about the lawsuits and any response from Apple. I submitted my information request to McCune Write Arevalo Attorneys at Law. On December 6th, 2016 I finally heard back.
Apple has decided to do something about the problem. Although it isn't the right thing, in my opinion, McCuneWrite’s email said this,
“Apple announced a "Multi-Touch Repair Program for iPhone 6 Plus." Apple has set the cost to repair an iPhone 6 Plus with a touchscreen defect at $149.00, and has offered to reimburse customers for amounts previously paid over $149.00.”
This is something, however, this a widespread technical issue that is due to the screen. It was not caused by the user however Apple claims now, that it is caused by the user.
McCuneWrite isn't done yet. They are continuing with the lawsuit and are asking for help from users.
