Little kids are wonderful, messy and chaotic all rolled into one cute tiny human. If you spend a lot of time with these tiny little humans, you learn a lot about them. Each kid is different, but they all have a few things in common.

1. Little kids somehow manage to always be messy.

It doesn’t matter what they are doing, kids always seem to make a mess. Whether they are eating, coloring or playing outside, they always seem to need a bath!

2. They ask tons of questions.

As a little kid I was the worst; I questioned everything. But the question asking trait is very common among young kids. Kids want to know everything and since they are still learning about the world, they ask about nearly everything.

3. Kids are sponges.

It is awesome to watch them learn new things every day, and the younger they are the more you can witness their little minds at work. As an adult around kiddos, you have to be super cautious about what you say and do. Kids mimic the grown-ups in their lives and take in everything you say or do.

4. They are hilarious!

Kids have no filter so they say whatever comes to mind. Sometimes they say the absolute funniest things. My parents used to write down the funny things we said as kids, and we still crack up reading them so many years later!

5. Kids throwing tantrums are not so different from drunken females.

When kids are tired and crabby, they can absolutely melt down into a screaming, crying and hysterical mess. They often cannot be consoled. They want their moms, they want their drinks... the list goes on and on. I have observed drunken girls behaving in the same way. They get to a point where they are crying, want to talk to their moms, and want their drinks.

6. They have a sweet innocence about them.

These tiny humans have yet to experience the cruelties of the world. They have fresh young minds, they don’t have any kind of biases, they aren’t prejudiced and they are everything that the adults of the world need to be, especially now.

Kids are fantastic and we could all take some lessons from them. They may be messy, they don’t always have it all together and they can ask a lot of questions, but they are a joy to be around and can teach us adults a thing or two.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
