The following is an original poem, written by myself almost 2 years ago. This poem is for anyone who has ever been in a negative relationship, whether or not it was obvious at first. Sometimes it is easy to be blind to the truth behind rose colored glasses, but we must all learn to recognize the signs of an unhealthy relationship in due time.
"Tornado" by Kaylee Faw
I saw the tornado before it ever formed.
The way the mood changed.
The way the wind picked up, it was no longer gentle.
The wind didn't care about the beauty it deprived me of.
I saw my favorite things taken from me.
The flower garden out front became a graveyard for all the roses that had once meant something more than just the color red.
My favorite tree stood barren, stripped of its liveliness.
In a way, the tree is like me.
Stripped of my liveliness, stripped of my happiness.
I saw everything before it happened.
I saw each and every little change that came about you.
The way you began to see a single drop of water where I saw the ocean.
And all the while I stood, waiting.
Waiting as the wind changed from gentle to unbearable.
I saw the tornado as it reached me.
I let it hit me anyway.
And it left me dead.
