As an adolescent, free time can come up very often, and reading may be a way of filling up that void in your life. Since childhood, reading and writing gave me this pursuit of happiness, and doing so has shown me so many things, which include being aware of what a well-written novel is and how it differs from any other. There are millions of different teen novels out in bookstores, but some are better then others. In this article, you will be reading what three novels and series I would highly recommend to those around me.
3. The "Twilight" Series
The "Twilight" Series, written by Stephanie Meyer, had great success and even made millions in revenue due to the making of the motion picture films. The novels’ lovely stories surrounding the supernatural love between a vampire and a human were a huge craze around 2010 and are even still widely popular. For many years, "Twilight" was known as a guilty pleasure kind of series because many had thought that the plot lines were unintelligent and uninteresting. In my opinion, I disagree with that notion. The novels were very intriguing and I would easily read them again.
Rating of Book:
If I could rate the novels, I would rate them a 4.5 out of 5 stars mainly due to the fact that I found myself bewildered every once in awhile, needing to reread the page I had been stuck on, due to unclear writing. Other than that, the novels are really something you shouldn’t miss out on.
2. "The Fault in Our Stars"
This acclaimed piece of work by John Green wasn’t your regular run-of-the-mill novel. Writing about cancer patients falling in love was a whole new take on writing and even broke many hearts as readers will discover once they reach the end of the book. My reasoning behind completely and emotionally falling in love with this novel was how John Green captured each character's feelings and emotions so well that you felt you were the antagonist in the novel. As much as I had been wary of not enjoying the novel due to its depressive outlook on life, I couldn’t help myself from the pleasure I had experienced while reading the novel.
Rating of Book:
The rating I would give for John Green’s ginormous success of a novel would easily be 5 out of 5. There wasn’t a single thing I had disliked about the novel. If you read it, you’ll completely agree.
1. "The Kite Runner"
At first, knowing that my English teacher was forcefully making her classes read Khaled Hosseini's "The Kite Runner" wasn’t something I would have easily indulged myself in. The truth is that although this was my original view of the novel, I had jumped the gun too quickly, as I soon realized what an amazing novel "The Kite Runner" really was. The main reason as to why I found this novel so enticing was because it had a more than normal amount of history written in it. To many, history is something only meant for school, rather than having your free time be reading a history novel at home. Although there were many who hadn’t liked the novel, as it was very dramatic and depressing going through an Afghani boy’s eyes and seeing him grow, I loved every page of it. This novel isn’t only highly recommended by myself but others as well, which is just another great reason for you to grab your own fresh copy of the novel.
Rating of the Book:
If I were to give a rating for the novel, I would give it a clear 3 out of 5. My reasoning for this score was mainly because, like the "Twilight" series, it had also been very unclear to read, which along with the sections of writing in Arabic, caused me to be quite lost. I still enjoyed every second of it and consider it to be one of the best novels ever written, which is why I consider it to be one of the best three books in the world.
Reading these novels will not only better your education, but will aid you in reading new and exciting books that will spark your interest. So do yourself a favor and get to reading!
