The year is coming to a close and if you are just as obsessed with YouTube as I am, you will remember these scandals. Hopefully, 2019 is a better year for the YouTube community.

8. Emma Chamberlain Clothing Line Scam

Although not too many people were mad about Emma having her own clothing line, the scandal arrived when she would not advertise the correct clothing she was selling to her fans. When Emma announced her clothing line on YouTube and Instagram back in late July of 2018, she would not disclose the exact products she was selling, which made people very angry considering the high prices of her products. Instead, Emma posted pictures of the blurred out products so people were unclear of what they were buying. After, people began speculating whether or not this was fair considering the expense of her products. Even though the clothing line was controversial at first, people realized the products were high quality and the so-called "scandal" blew over in no time.

7. Shane Dawson "Pedophile" Scandal

Early in January of this year, the Youtuber was accused of pedophilia due to some the jokes he told on his podcast. Although none of the allegations were true, the podcast clips were taken out of context and posted on Twitter and videos on YouTube soon surfaced. Shane quickly apologized for his humor on his podcast considering he made those jokes years ago and has changed since then and shot down the allegations. The "scandal" was terminated pretty quickly and most people believed the scandal was formed in order to cover up other controversies in the YouTube community at the time.

6. Bobby Burns Using Shane Dawson for Fame

Recently Shane Dawson has been changing his content into "documentary-type" videos. In one of his documentary series, he decided to confront a hater. Bobby Burns was a commentary content creator and was brought on to Shane's series. The duo immediately became friends and Shane decided to feature him in his videos and gave him a series on his channel. After only a few productions of the weekly series, Bobby Burns was canceled from Shane's channel. Bobby has been making music and broke up with his girlfriend, Jordanne Leigh since the series ended. Although many people believe Bobby's intentions were harmless, he has been very hypocritical of Shane in the past and has made videos on many of the actions in which he criticized creators for doing.

5. Tide Pod Challenge

Back in January, Glozell came out with a new tide pod challenge which sparked a revolution. After this video, many teens began to also upload videos trying the trend. The trend led Tide to even add to their products "do not consume" and they sent out multiple statements on social media in which they addressed the safety issues of consuming tide pods. even though the rate at which teens were actually trying the trend was low, there was a significant amount of backlash regarding the challenge.

4. Laura Lee Racism Scandal

This year, old racist tweets resurfaced from Laura Lee's account. She decided to make a YouTube video addressing these racist remarks. However, in her video, she was not sincere at all which made the apology even worse. She has now been made int a meme and her work in the beauty community has been severely impacted.

3. Jake Paul an Erika Costell

Jake Paul and Erika Costell have been dating for a while now. However, they recently announced their breakup after "The Mind of Jake Paul" series by Shane Dawson. People believe this is just a publicity stunt due to how affectionate and genuine they were with each other during the series. Although recent allegations of Jake cheating has been released. Apparently, he was Direct Messaging a model from the U.K. with the intentions of flying her out and interviewing her for Team10. Although not much has been said after this, the messages are pretty suspicious.

2. TanaCon

Tana Mongeau decided to create a new convention in rebellion against Vidcon. Due to the publicity of free tickets with the amount of highly esteemed creators the convention was destined to be a failure. The convention did not have enough security, space, or food for people to have an enjoyable time and was one of the biggest scandals Tana has been a part of. More about this series and what went wrong can be seen on Shane Dawson's channel.

1. Logan Paul and the Suicide Forest

The year started off with this scandal and nothing has topped it. Logan Paul traveled to Japan in January and filmed in the suicide forest. In hopes of getting content for his vlog, he stumbled upon a dead body. Instead of terminating the filming, he actually did a close up of the body. He then explained how he wanted to prevent suicides and be an advocate for mental illness. Obviously not taking into consideration his viewer demographic is mainly children, he could not have posted a worse video. Logan received an immense amount of hate and backlash for this video and took a "break" from social media. The break lasted about a month and so far I do not think he has learned much from this stunt.

"I want to thank Google, Wikipedia, and whoever else invented copy and paste. Thank you."

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
