So, many of high school students have graduated! Congratulations! And likewise, many of you are going to college. That means a roommate, or a few, a meal plan, a whole new school and the first taste of adult life. You're alone for the first time with little to no "Adult supervision". You're going to get a packing list from your school, one filled with suggested items and items you cannot bring. However, there are a few that you must make sure you have (at least in my opinion).

1. An Iron

Your clothes are GOING to get wrinkled. And when you have that really important job interview because buying food and other things are important and you need money, you'll be thankful that you had this handy dandy device. Most even come with instructions on how to use them.

2. Tupperware

You're going to want to sneak food out of the dining commons. You're going to need to store your leftovers in something and they are microwave safe!

3. Coat Hangers

Clothes don't get wrinkled when they're put away properly. This keeps them off the floor and it keeps your roommate happy.

4. Laundry pods/hamper

Get a hamper. Seriously. It's easier than a bag and you don't have to worry about getting your clothes back up to your dorm. Also, laundry pods are way easier to store than bottles of detergent.

5. Surge protector

there are not enough plugs in your room and you have to have a grounding pin to make extension cords safe.

6. Extra sheets/ Throw blankets

It's going to get cold at some point in the dorm. When my friend slept over, she used my extra throw as a little more warmth on the floor where she had to sleep. Extra sheets are good for when your primary ones are in the wash and you need them pronto.

7. A fan

College is hot and there will most likely be no AC.Movies about college are lying to you. The summer months are hot and sticky. Nights are horrible without fans. there was a shortage once school started this past September, so get them now.

8. Air freshener

College is smelly. Weed, body odor, the whole nine yards. It comes from the windows, under your door, from the hallways, the bathrooms, everywhere. Get some sprays, or some renuzits or an air wick spray mist contraption. They all work and its even better when you put them behind your fan that you were so smart in getting so that the smell goes all around the room.

9. A vacuum

there's dirt and crumbs and other debris in your rug. You could try to use tape to get it out. You could try to sweep it out, if you have a broom that is, or you could buy a rechargeable handheld vacuum that will make cleaning a breeze.

10. A full body mirror

You're going to want to check your outfits before class. You're going to want to fix your makeup, and write reminders to yourself and your roommates. and if you aren't like that, you'll meet someone who is.

Have fun your freshman year! Be safe and be prepared!

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
