From the craziness of the State Fair to the calmness of the Boundary Waters, Minnesota has many features that people should take advantage of and never take for granted. Here are the top ten things that reflect the state's beauty and simplicity:

1. The people

Minnesota Nice is a real thing. People have adapted this overall friendliness towards everyone they meet in MN. It's very obvious when you go to a different state that the people back home in Minnesota are just genuinely kind to one another.

2. Outstanding education

The Minnesota government has worked hard over the years to make sure MN residents can receive an exceptional education. Out of the 50 states, Minnesota's educational system is ranked number 8 overall.

3. Lake life

In the land of [over] ten thousand lakes, there are lakes literally everywhere. On the lakes people can tube, water ski, wake-surf, etc. or just hang out.

4. Minneapolis

Minneapolis, historically, was an important place on the Mississippi River for transporting products, especially lumber. Now Minneapolis has grown into a thriving midwestern city. Minneapolis is a perfect city because it's not too overwhelming like other major cities in the U.S., but it's also big enough to offer many enjoyable activities. Minneapolis offers a variety of different restaurants, shops, museums, theaters, hotels, etc.

5. Sunsets

Although you can see a sunset virtually everywhere, there's a certain happiness and calm feeling that comes when watching a peaceful Minnesotan sunset after a long day of enjoying yourself under the sun.

6. The Northern Woods and Lake Superior Area

Lake Superior is the largest of the Great Lakes and the largest freshwater lake in the world. Not only is the lake record setting physically, the lake and the surrounding area are extremely beautiful and peaceful.

7. The Boundary Waters

With no motor boats allowed, the Boundary Waters is an 1,090,000-acre wilderness area within the Superior National Forest in Northern Minnesota filled with many lakes, streams, and etc. that can be canoed. Inside this little piece of heaven, it's truly just you and nature.

8. Minnesota winters

Although sometimes brutally cold, Minnesota winters are truly beautiful. Minnesotans are able to do all the classic winter activities here; there is lakes to skate on, hills to sled on, and we make our best out of the hills we have to ski and snowboard on.

9. Minnesota state fair

Second to Texas, Minnesota has one of the top rated state fairs in the country. Minnesotans flock there at the end of every summer to find just about anything fried and on a stick along with rides and animals to enjoy.

10. Mall Of America

MOA is the second largest mall in the U.S. Many Minnesotans tend to avoid MOA because of it's size and insane amount of people sometime, but it is extremely convenient to have a mall that literally has almost every store you can think of.
