Some of you may know how acapella is taking the world by storm as we have seen this type of music in film, television, and even on YouTube. Pitch Perfect and Pentatonix may be popular with today's generation, but what about acapella artists who could create acapella music as individuals. By individual, I meant that these artists use their own voice that ranges from low to high notes, which creates the background music while they also perform their song. One music artist that belonged to this community is YouTube Creator Peter Hollens. Here are the top 10 acapella covers that have made me fall in love with his music.
10. Hamilton-An Acapella Medley
This video may not contain all 46 songs from the Broadway musical, but it is enough to satisfy your Hamilton craving!
9. Scarborough Fair
Other than Simon and Garfunkel's cover, this video has done a beautiful rendition of this ballad.
8. Shenandoah
Fun Fact: It was actually this song that made me start listening to some traditional folk music.
7. The Parting Glass
A beautiful rendition of this song sung by multiple copies of Peter Hollens himself singing the chorus and the lead.
6. Misty Mountains
The first of my favorite Lord of the Rings/ Hobbit song covers!
5. May It Be
Another one of my favorite Lord of the Rings songs that contains violin from YouTuber Taylor Davis, combined with acapella.
4. Believe
I have waited for this cover for a long time! My favorite Christmas song from one of my favorite Christmas movies, The Polar Express! What makes this song even more beautiful is his collaboration with the One Voice Children's Choir.
3. In Dreams
The last of my top Lord of the RIngs trilogy covers! This man has a natural voice for this movie trilogy! Now if we can have him cover the song The Greatest Adventure from the animated version of The Hobbit.
2. December Song
This song had put me in a Christmasy mood since it was released last December. This has made it into my Top Ten Christmas Songs playlist on my iPhone!
1. Sound of Silence
Aside from Simon & Garfunkel's rendition, this cover by Peter Hollens, along with Tim Foust has exceeded my expectations! It was so good that I made it my song for the weekend last week!
