The semester is almost at a close; whether or not you want to admit it. All of the holiday commercials have found their way on our television sets, computers, and even music stream. You're probably wishing that you were out holiday shopping, or helping your family with the decorations/cooking, while watching the vibrant lights glisten and shimmer from outside of your window. Instead, it's a Saturday morning, and rather than planning on what gifts to purchase for which family member(s)/friend(s), you are planning out your study schedule for the rest of the week. The exam dates and paper deadlines seem to be arriving faster than you anticipated. In addition, you are probably reflecting on the decisions you made during the semester. While some of the choices you made have left you with tears of joy, others choices have left you crying and feeling miserable. But always remember to stay motivated no matter what curve balls life throws at you. Here are some top ten motivational songs to honor the semester ending, and help you remain focused during finals week.

1. Born this Way -Lady Gaga

No matter what anyone says about you, remember you are perfect just the way you are, because you were born this way. And who you are is what makes you unique.

2. Fly-Hillary Duff

If you ever feel like you are unable to shine, or feel insecure about your life, just remember you have the power to fly and stand taller.

3. Put on a Happy Face -Dick Van Dyke

Remember to not let the stress of your assignments/exams tear apart your emotional well-being. Even if you don't feel confident, just remember to wear your smile. A smile a day keeps the sadness away.

4. I'll Make a Man out of You -Mulan Soundtrack

Personally, one of my favorite work out songs to jam out to on the treadmill or elliptical. No other Disney song is the perfect anthem for studying for finals, or starting a 15 page paper like this tune.

5. Livin' on a Prayer -Bon Jovi

"Ohhhhhh, we're halfway there. Ohhhhhhhhh, livin' on a prayer. Take my hand. We'll make it I swear. Ohhhhh, livin on a prayer". To anyone who who has ever felt like death, or told their friends that they are "going to die" from the stress of finals week, just remember the the chorus of Bon Jovi's song. Also, a great workout tune.

6. Ain't no Mountain High Enough -Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell

No matter how arduous the coming weeks may seem, just remember that your friends and family will be there to support you. Even in spirit. If you can conquer the most finger blistering exam/paper, you can do anything you put your mind to.

7. Work B**ch -Brittany Spears

You wanna make dean's list? Get a good night's rest? Cross assignments off from your checklist? Then get to work b**ch. Seriously, stop procrastinating on social media and get moving!

8. Eye of the Tiger -Survivor

The odds may be against you. The clock has become your swarm enemy. And your entire body has transformed into a block of cement. Just remember to put back on those boxing gloves, and you'll be able to fight your way to the championship (or at least receive a good grade in your course). Also, you're probably thinking this is the most cliche song I could have picked to associate with finals week.

9. I'm Ready -AJR

With Spongebob iconic catchphrase, "I'm ready," mixed into this upbeat tune, there's no way to avoid dancing and singing to this fun song. No matter how unprepared you may feel during exam day, just remember that you are ready, and don't doubt yourself!

10. Hakuna Matata -The Lion King Soundtrack

Another Disney motivational song, because honestly, most Disney songs involve some sort of scene where the character has to become motivated to achieve what they desire (and if you disagree we are going to have some issues). Hakuna Matata. It means no worries for the rest of your days, or until you've finished that exam/enormous paper. Remember not to stress, and keep breathing in and out.

BONUS SONG: Just Keep Swimming -Finding Nemo

Even if you feel like giving up and tossing in the towel, pencil, paper, laptop, etc, just remember to keep swimming and don't look back!
Happy Almost-End-of-the-Semester everyone!!!!

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

Sister | Brother Style - Word Press

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies.
