We've got so many great films coming out this year, and a few questionable ones. Like Fifty Shades Darker, and the Emoji movie.... why? That's all I have to say about that. Moving on, because there are so many good-looking films I've decided to help narrow down what ones you should see immediately. There are some guidelines for this list I'd like to point out though. To begin with, this list is in no order. They all look great, and they all deserve an equal chance to be seen. Another thing to mention is that I'm listing movies that already have trailers out. I'm a huge nerd, and I hate when things are spoiled for me. So, to avoid spoiling anything, I won't touch stuff I don't have enough information about. Speaking of there may be some spoilers ahead. So, SPOILER WARNING.
1. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
I'm so excited about this film. Who didn't love baby Groot and watching Rocket's, sort-of, parenting in the trailer? The cast from the original film is back and ready for action, humor, and another great soundtrack. What we know about the film is that Star-Lord is looking for his dad. All we know about his dad is that he's not from Earth, and that he's being played by Kurt Russell. Other than that, it's supposed to be the same idea as the original plot-wise. A group of misfits trying to survive the Galaxy.
2. Wonder Woman
The best part of Batman v. Superman was when Wonder Woman showed up to fight. At first I was apprehensive about Gal Gadot playing the hero, but she was fantastic. She showed up Batman and Superman in that fight. Now this film takes place during World War 1, where were supposed to learn why she stopped fighting until Batman v. Superman. With Chris Pine, Robin Wright, David Thewlis, Danny Huston, and many more great actors in this film I have a feeling it's going to be a good one for DC comics.
3. Logan
I already know that there will be tears during this film. This is the last time we will see Hugh Jackman play wolverine. Wolverine was my favorite superhero growing up, right after Batman, so this movie hits close to home. The idea that this is the last time we will see Hugh Jackman play Wolverine already makes me tear up. This film looks like it will be a perfect send off for him. We will finally be able to see how dark Wolverine is meant to be, thanks to Deadpool. If Deadpool didn't do well as a rated R film, we wouldn't be getting this kind of sendoff.
4. Spider-man Homecoming
Marvel owns Spider-man!!! I know this is the third time we are doing Spider-man with a new actor. But it's not an origin story. We've had two of those, which were great, but now we're going head first into a great story line from the comics. Also, Tom Holland was great in Captain America Civil War. He was smart and nerdy, but in a cute adorable way. He kicked butt and made you laugh while doing it. Exactly like Spider-man is supposed to.
5. Kong: Skull Island
We have a brand-new King Kong film. This one doesn't seem like we're only focusing on Kong, but the island he's protecting. We get to see the island natives both human and monster. It doesn't seem like he's going to New York and going nuts on the empire state building in this one. In the trailer, it’s more like a war zone. Man vs. monster. Which side is Kong on? It also has a fantastic cast with Samuel L. Jackson, Brie Larson, Tom Hiddleston, John Goodman, and John C. Reilly. This film is in good hands, with this cast alone.
6. The Mummy
Before I begin I'm going to make it clear that this is a standalone movie. It’s not part of the Mummy trilogy that already exist with Imhotep. This is meant to be a reboot of the universal horror classic. This one is about Princess Ahmanet who was denied something in her past, and is going to wreak havoc on mankind because of it. Tom Cruise plays Nick Morton who is like Van Helsing, and Russell Crowe plays Dr. Henry Jekyll. We get the mummy and Dr. Jekyll in one film, sign me up.
7. Baywatch
Comedy is good and it's good for you. Now a comedy with Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron who have played in comedy's before and did well in, sounds fantastic. After watching the trailer I couldn't stop laughing. It looks like good old ridiculous fun, action, and of course comedy. We need some humor after this past year and I think this film can deliver it.
8. The Fate of the Furious
Apparently 2016 was powerful enough to make Dom turn on the Fast and Furious family. In every Fast and Furious film, Dom, has preached that you don't leave behind family. In the trailer not only has he left his family, but he's fighting them. I just want to see this film to know what's happened, and what's going on with Dom. It's got great cars, action, humor, and just fun like the franchise has delivered in the past.
9. Beauty and the Beast
"Tale as old as time. Song as old as rhyme. Beauty and the Beast."- Beauty and the Beast
It’s the classic Disney princess film. So many of us wanted to be Belle when we were little girls. I wanted that library that Beast got her mostly, but love sounds good to. Emma Watson was the perfect actress to cast for the role of Belle and Dan Stevens as the Beast. Its cinematography is beautiful, and just looks gorgeous in live action. It'll be fun seeing my favorite Disney film come to life.
10. Cars 3
I've put Cars 3 on this list because the trailer shocked me. Pixar has been known to hit people’s emotions and make us all cry. But to do it in a teaser trailer with the main character, is a hit out of nowhere. Lightning McQueen is seriously injured or worst dead. A trailer told us this, so what are we to expect when the film comes out? All I have to say is well done Pixar, well done.
