Looking back on it, I realize why my mom wouldn't let me watch these shows...

Parent's Today

Sometimes I like to reminisce back to when I was younger. I love to see how certain aspects of my early life molded me into the person I am today. Certain book series inspired me to write, people watching with my mom has made me love sociology, and Greenday and the All-American Rejects have made me incredibly angsty. So, it is to follow that all those incredibly disturbing kids television shows I watched explain why I'm so weird. I made a list of the top ten freakiest shows I loved to watch. I realized that the reason I forgot about most of them is probably because I blocked them out of my memory for a reason...

10. CatDog

Overall, I really freaking loved this show as a kid. My dad and I would watch it together all the time, and I thought it was hilarious. Honestly, this is only on the list because the concept is just not right. Who thought this creature up? Plus there are so many questions I have, and I don't think I really want to know the answers...

9. Aaahh!!! Real Monsters

In all honesty, I still get nightmares about the black and white umbrella lady thing. The only reason why this isn't higher on the list is that I don't remember anything super weird or creepy about the show other than the monsters and their underground city. I actually think the maroon elf dude is kinda cute. Weird, but cute.

8. Pinky and the Brain

This show was also just odd. The Brain had some MAJOR issues. He clearly needed to practice anger management and to chill out about world domination. His whole purpose in life was to dominate the world and make humans his subjects. Is it mean that when I was little I often saw myself as the Brain and my little brother as Pinkie? Admittedly I did need to chill about my desire to be Overlord of the Earth, but that mellowed out around fifteen so I'm all good.

7. Teletubbies

I watched this every day, and I now understand why my mother hated it. Anything that involves a giant vacuum, creatures with televisions on their stomachs, and a baby-faced sun has no place in a child's life.

6.  Gravity Falls

Granted, this show is fairly new. However, it is still pretty creepy. The only reason it is on this list is because it really made me question my entire existence multiple times. I honestly believe that the only reason why this show is borderline terrifying is because it is a comedic cartoon. It isn't necessarily supposed to be scary, and is usually just really funny. When they bring out the scary stuff though, it's just not right, man.

5. Powerpuff Girls

Loved this show. Loved it. I would destroy you if you said I wasn't Blossom. Fact. However, I still get crazy nightmares from Him. Nothing you can say will ever convince me he isn't Satan. Ever. That voice actually sends chills down my spine. I would watch every episode and absolutely love Mojo Jojo, but if Him was in the episode I was turning that crap off and running to Mom. Heck no.

4. Invader Zim

I really wanted to put this show higher on the list, but there are worse ones coming, worry not. Invader Zim is something special though. The sickening art style and grating voices aside, the episodes were terrifying. Sure, Gir brought some comedic relief to the show, but the individual episodes would leave me looking over my shoulder and refusing to walk alone in the dark. If you can't remember how incredibly scary the show was, try watching the episode "Dark Harvest" all the way through. Exactly.

3 Adventure Time

Ok, I also love this show, and I wouldn't say it is totally terrifying, but it is pretty messed up. The reality that the show takes place in, is post-apocalyptic. Due to the intense amount of radiation from a war, normally inanimate objects can live, talk, and rule. There are also some scary villains that Finn and Jake have to battle. But what makes this show so scary to me is Princess Bubblegum. She is downright evil. She experiments on creatures, to a point that seriously makes me believe she does some ethically wrong things. When Finn finds that out, he is also pretty upset. If there is anything I learned now that I'm older, is that the truth about people can be the scariest thing of all.

2. Courage the Cowardly Dog

Honestly, do I need to tell you why it's number two on this list? Besides the fact that they literally live in the middle of nowhere, everything that is evil in the world has a strange infatuation with Courage's owner, Muriel. Honestly, some of the episodes could give Tim Burton a run for his money.

1. The Misadventures of Flapjack

Still one of my favorite shows. The best way to describe it is Adventure Time on LSD. Well, more LSD. Absolutely disgusting and utterly messed up. The art can be gag inducing and the episode plot lines are clinically insane. I don't know if I could say the show has villains, just people who are more creepy than the rest of the characters.

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?

I've been super busy lately with school work, studying, etc. Besides the fact that I do nothing but AP chemistry and AP economics, I constantly think of stupid questions that are almost impossible to answer. So, maybe you could answer them for me, and if not then we can both wonder what the answers to these 15 questions could be.
