Top Ten Christmas Movies
Enduring All Things

Christmas is coming up, folks! It's time to bundle up and take it easy for a while. There are so many Christmas movies that you can watch, but I've done my research and I've come up with the top ten Christmas movies you should watch this holiday season.

10. "Frosty the Snowman"

This classic cartoon from 1969 makes the list for its classic songs and its happy-go-lucky mood. It's pretty easy to fall into the holiday spirit with Frosty as your guide.

9. "The Year Without a Santa Claus"

This one's a personal favorite of mine. I remember watching it on a VCR when I was a kid. The Heat Miser and Snow Miser are some of my favorite characters of any movie, let alone Christmas ones. It's a great movie that everyone should see because it's a hidden gem amongst classic Christmas movies.

8. "A Charlie Brown Christmas"

Speaking of classics, here is your Charlie Brown holiday movie that we all love to watch. Join Charlie and the gang to celebrate Christmas this year.

7. "Rudolph the Red-Nose Reindeer"

Since people call me Yukon Cornelius when I have a beard, I should mention this Christmas movie. It's another classic but still lives up today. I especially appreciate the banter between Yukon and the Abominable Monster. If you like elves, reindeer, and other cute animals here's one for you.

6. "A Christmas Story"

I think this movie grows on you as you get older. A lot of the jokes are meant for adults, or at least I never quite got them as a kid. It's certainly a great movie to watch, as it teaches you not to lick a frozen pole, firearm safety, and not to curse in front of your parents. I find new jokes I missed the year before. Give it a watch.

5. "Home Alone"

Do you like wacky robbers, oblivious adults, and a clever little kid? Me too. So sit back, relax, and watch the madness unfold.

4. "Die Hard"

You're damn right it's a Christmas movie. While you're feeling nice and cozy with those Christmas classics, here's one to shake things up. There's nothing like Bruce Willis killing Germans to put me into the holiday spirit.

3. "Elf"

You know why it's on this list. For some of you, you're wondering why it's not number one, but it's up against stiff competition so don't you worry.

2. "How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000)"

Jim Carrey is a genius. This is my favorite Christmas movie comedy. Carrey is hilarious and you'll be laughing so hard you won't have to work off the turkey.

1. "It's A Wonderful Life"

Hands down, one of the best movies ever made. Watch this one if you watch any on this list. It will make you laugh, it will make you cry, and it will make you thankful and happy during this Christmas.

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.
