Top 7 Reasons Why Autumn Is Awesome

It's a season filled with simple joys and the excitement of winter's arrival.

It's that time of year again, arguably the best time of the year! It's neither too cold nor too hot outside and just perfect in scenery and the festive moods that start to spread. It's fall time! I've always enjoyed this season the most and here are the top seven reasons why autumn is as awesome as it is.

1. Nature becomes more natural and beautiful

Hands down, almost everyone is taken by the sight of trees with their leaves having changed color into those warm, fuzzy yellows, browns and reds. It's so soothing to look at or even walk through a canopy of fall leaves. Sunrises and sunsets become more vibrant and starry nights, especially up in the artic circle with the aurora borealis (northern lights), become more magical. If anything, this is the time nature best connects to the human soul.

2. Cooler weather is the best kind of weather

No more hot, sticky, humid weather! No need to worry about sweating away in the summer heat and rushing to grab a cold drink every two seconds. In fact, scientific studies have shown that cold weather also boosts performance in people and improves our decision making by allowing us to concentrate more on our logic versus being drained of energy given a warmer temperature surrounding. So bring on the cold, cool breeze of fall!

3. All-things-comfy-and-cozy time

It's sweater weather time indeed! Finally, you can show off all those crazy, fashionable sweaters you got! And don't have to worry much about your wardrobe as that sweater and scarves and gloves have got you all covered.

All-things-comfy-and-cozy also means getting the fireplace going and breaking out all the furry, fuzzy blankets!

Who doesn't like relaxing by the fire while wrapped up in a blanket?

4. Autumn food

I think this sums it up pretty well:

In addition to the pie and the ever famous pumpkin spice lattes, nothing beats the incoming cold weather like a warm cup of autumn apple oatmeal in the morning or having a fall sweet potato side for dinner in the evening. Admit it, warm food (or food in general) just tastes better in fall.

5. Fall back in time (and into bed)

Fall means food, but after all that eating comes some laid back chill time. Speaking of time, happily enough we get to reset our clocks back by an hour, therefore increasing the hours of sleep we're getting (extremely vital for us students) or to finally try and squeeze in some quality knitting time (or any other hobby you may have for fall).

6. New season in weather means more seasons of favorite and new TV shows

An extra hour may also mean an extra hour of binging on your favorite releases this fall. If not into TV shows, there is always the release of book series to look forward to or new novels (and, of course, binge reading is the best of its kind in reading)!

Waiting for the next episode or book like:

(Especially true if left with a cliffhanger.)

7. Holiday season is around the corner

Thanksgiving is weeks away and soon the countdown to all those splendid winter holidays will begin! This also means shopping season is coming. Time to start saving up for all those Christmas goodies for your family, friends, and maybe yourself! Oh, and did I mention the upcoming arrival of snow and snow days?

No matter what your reason is for loving fall, it really is a fun-filled time of nature to celebrate!

Now that Halloween is over, it's time to focus on the Holiday Season. Don't get me wrong, I think Thanksgiving is great and can't wait for it, but nothing gives me greater joy than watching Freeform's 25 Days of Christmas, lighting peppermint scented candles, decking the halls, and baking gingerbread cookies. So while we approach the greatest time of the year, let's watch the 15 best Christmas movies of all time.

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

Being pre-med is quite a journey. It’s not easy juggling school work, extracurricular activities, volunteering, shadowing, research, and MCAT prep all at the same time. Ever heard of “pain is temporary, but GPA is forever?” Pre-meds don’t just embody that motto; we live and breathe it. Here are 10 symptoms you’re down with the pre-med student syndrome.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.
