Everyone knows that Texas is among one of the greatest place on God`s green Earth. From the beautiful blue bonnets to ten-gallon hats, Texas has a flare of its own! Ironically, Texas is one of the most scenic places you could ever hope to visit. You know how they say that there is nothing in the world like a Texas sunset? Well, they're right. But what else makes Texas so awesome? In this article, I'll be addressing some key factors of what Texans love most about living in the Lone Star State.

1. Whataburger

One of my absolute favorite places in town hands down is Whataburger. Founded in the 1950s in Corpus Christi, TX, Whataburger is your one stop shop for grade A fast food. From their massive cups of sweet iced tea to the jalapeño cheddar biscuit for breakfast, no one can deny that this particular fast food chain is a Texas favorite. Whataburger is home to some of the best burgers you can ask for, and it's all made with 100% real beef. If you ask me, the best way to wash down a Whataburger is with a big cup of their sweet iced tea, a southern favorite!

2. Bar-B-Que

Yet another Texas favorite, sweet, smoked and savory barbecue! No 4th of July celebration, family reunion, game night, or pool party is complete without it. Texans love BBQ! Whether it's sausage links, chicken, pork loin, or ribs, nobody does barbecue quite like Texas. A Texans favorite, however, is hot, smoked brisket! Slather it in your favorite BBQ sauce and put it in a sandwich, which is best paired with your favorite baked beans. There aren't many limitations to the different ways you can enjoy your barbecue. Chopped, chipped, sliced, or shredded, doesn't matter how you prefer it, it's delicious either way!

3. The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo

Perhaps one of the most famous celebrations in Texas to this day, people gather from all over to witness the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. It's more than just a rodeo, it's great food, live music, carnival rides and fun for the whole family! Season tickets start at about $336 per individual ticket, plus shipping. The price may seem a bit outrageous to some, but right next to the state fair, this is one of the biggest events that Texas has to offer. Because if there's one thing Texans love more than BBQ, it's going to the rodeo! Rodeo is about more than bulls and hanging on for eight seconds. Rodeo is a lifestyle. It involves blood, dust, sweat, tears, and hard work. From bull riding and calf roping to barrel racing and hog-tying, the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo is a Texas tradition that brings many smiles every year.

4. High-school Football Games

If there's one thing I know for an absolute fact that Texans love, it's a good old-fashioned high-school football game! The football players here in Texas put more heart and soul into the game more than anywhere else in the US. Here in Texas, we do it up big with halftime performances complete with fireworks, glow in the dark dance routines by our drill team and cheerleaders, and loud and proud school songs performed by our very own marching band! Nobody takes high school football rivalries as serious as Texas either, but that just adds to the want to work harder. There's nothing more nerve-wracking than having just a few seconds left on the clock, and being just a few yards away from that winning touchdown that'll carry our boys all the way to state, but there's nothing quite as rewarding either. Clear eyes, full hearts, can't lose, am I, right boys?

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
