With the NBA Regular season officially winding down in a couple of days, we saw how many rookies made a big impact this year for their respected teams. While there were many good rookies, 5 rookies stood out from the rest of the pack on leading their teams and here they are below.
Marvin Bagley III
Marvin Bagley has recently pushed himself as a top rookie by averaging 20 points within the last few games. He is making an impact for the playoff pushing Kings and fits perfectly with Fox and Hield. Bagley will soon be a premier all star and in the future could be a hall of fame player.
Kevin Knox
Kevin Knox has stepped up his game since being inserted into the starting lineup. He consistently scores over 15 points a game now and has been a plug in the poor roster of the Knicks. He has been their only bright spot and while he needs to improve, he has still been performing well enough to boost himself onto that list.
Deandre Ayton
There was so much hype about Deandre Ayton when the season and many expected him to be ROY. While that will not happen, Ayton has been a monster regardless. He is basically averaging a double double and is going to be a major part of the Sun's plans in the future.
Trae Young
Trae Young turned into a superstar after the all-star break. Honestly because of recency bias he seems like the ROY, but when all stats from the whole season are put together, Young comes second to Luka. Despite this, there's no secret why Young's nickname is Ice Trae. He comes up clutch in big moments. He's averaging over 25 points since the all star break and is also averaging almost 9 assists. Trae is a superstar in the making and reminds me of Steph Curry. The rest of the league better watch out for him.
Luka Doncic
Luka Doncic was undoubtedly the best rookie this year. He immediately became a superstar and was almost selected as an All Star. He became the clear leader of the Mavericks within the first 20 games and also consistently was a leader in the locker room as well as the court. He also averaged over 20 points a game this season and was also having triple doubles as well as dishing dimes to his teammates on a nightly basis. While Trae Young has given Luka a run for his money lately, Doncic is definitely the best rookie of his class so far.
