"A new era begins," stated Virginia Raggi, as she accepted her victory as the mayor of Rome. A 37-year-old lawyer, Raggi is not only the first woman to rule Rome in almost 3,000 years, she is also the youngest elected major in the city's history.

Woman millennials are living in an exciting time of many "new" beginnings. We should not take these new victories as means to dominate the working world of men. Rather, it should be an inspiring win that shows us women are finding and using their confidence and purpose for good. Young women of today are using their story to create a platform to inspire other millennials to find their own story and purpose.

Here are five influential women millennials who demonstrate poise and elegance while fighting for notable causes and helping to change the world.

1. Tomi Lahren

A 23-year-old conservative, out-spoken, photogenic journalist. Known as the blonde girl who Liberals love to hate, Tomi Lahren has taken over the internet with her Final Thoughts clips. She is a cut-throat boss of a woman who unapologetically says what most of us are too afraid to say. She always ends her show with, "God bless you, and God bless America."

2. Ashley Crouch

Ashley Crouch is the creator of Bloom, Lovely and founder of Appleseed Communications, LLC, a PR company that equips entrepreneurs to speak to inspire. She speaks on women's issues and writes to young women millennials on topics of beauty, fashion, leadership, and relationships. Ashley was also on the founding team for launch women’s fashion and lifestyle publication, Verily Magazine.

3. Katie Davis

Most popularly known as "Kisses From Katie.' In December of 2006, 18-year-old Katie Davis from Brentwood, Tennessee, traveled to Uganda for the first time. She was immediately captivated with the people and the culture. God laid it on Katie’s heart to start an Education Sponsorship Outreach, matching orphaned and vulnerable children who are unable to afford schooling with sponsors anywhere in the world. Later that year, in 2008, Katie established a 501(c)3 non-profit organization called Amazima Ministries International. The word “Amazima” means “truth” in the native Luganda language. The organization seeks to meet the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of the people of Uganda who need it most. Katie is the mother of 13 adopted girls and recently married and gave birth to a son.

4. Lila Rose

Lila Rose is President of Live Action, an educational nonprofit dedicated to inspiring a culture of life in America and beyond. Lila founded Live Action when she was fifteen years old. Live Action changes hearts and minds about abortion and promotes respect for human dignity through national media campaigns, investigative reporting and targeted youth education programs.

5. Sadie Robertson

This gal needs no introduction. She is a reality TV star of the infamous "Duck Dynasty." She has such a bubbly, down-to-earth, warm personality, and she is unashamed for who she is what she stands for. She is a passionate advocate for living original and being who God created for you to be. She also wrote a book for girls to see the innate beauty that they posses.

6. Lauren Conrad

Similar to many young women in Hollywood, Lauren Conrad rose to fame through a reality series based on her life. Many people have credited her with being one of the most normal and down-to-earth reality stars on television. When the show ended, she studied at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising, and went on to become one of the most influential young women in the beauty and fashion industry. She has launched two fashion lines, LC Lauren Conrad and Paper Crown, and both give women the opportunity to buy and wear sophisticated yet modern attire. Lauren also finds time to maintain a lifestyle blog that gives all kinds of advice to women including health, diet, fashion and beauty. Although she works tirelessly in all endeavors, she also advocates for charities such as Feeding America and Soles4Souls. Lauren has come to be known as the modern-day Martha Stewart, giving advice and wisdom to women in all areas of life.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
