Top 10 GNI Movies

These are just a few movies that are essential to everyday life. If you haven't seen these movies, it is worth the computer viruses from downloading them off of a sketchy website. Trust me they will not disappoint. So, grab your favorite group of gal pals and get watching!

1. "Grease 2"

This movie is a classic if there ever was one. This movie musical is full of catchy musical numbers and a love story that will make you want to go fix up a motorcycle. Don't let the fact that it is a sequel to "Grease" throw you off. This is a whole new story of its own. Young Maxwell Caulfield will capture your hearts and make you fall in love (even though he's totally 55).

2. "Bridget Jones's Diary"

This British movie will make you laugh, cry and fall in love. Even though it is technically a Christmas movie, I could watch it in June and still laugh every time. Renée Zellweger is the definition of a HOOT. Her quirky character is relatable and incredibly well done. Colin Firth and Hugh Grant are the perfect ingredients to this hilarious love triangle. You and your girlfriends will laugh until you cry and maybe relate to Bridget's life a little bit more than you would hope.

3. "10 Things I Hate About You"

I have two words for this movie. Heath Ledger. This movie will make you feel the real teenage angst of the 90s and not the made up angst that 2000s is trying to get away with. It will make you fall in love with bad boys and will make you actually think that the "flow" on guys is attractive. 10/10 would recommend "10 Things I Hate About You"

4. "Sixteen Candles"

Every girl who has seen this movie has realized all they have ever wanted was a guy to be leaning against his car waiting for them after their sister's wedding. I know that seems specific, but this movie will take you and your gal pals on a throwback ride into one of Molly Ringwald's best RomComs. Whether you are 16 or not, this movie is perfect for a GNO and will leave you wanting some birthday cake.

5. "Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging"

I don't know about you, but this movie was my childhood. I just recently watched it with a group of my girlie pops, and it had us reeling. This quirky British movie is outrageous and hilarious. Even though the lead characters are in Jr. High, you will feel like you are back in your basketball shorts and vans as you dive into the hilarious life of Georgia Nicholson.

6. "Pride and Prejudice"

This classic will have you in tears as you are immersed in Jane Austen's greatest love story. After this movie, you will want to go running through a countryside in a dress while a minor key piano plays in the background. Darcy and Elizabeth's love for each other will fill you with hope and, also, false expectations that the guy you just started talking to is trying to court you. Stop being so Prideful and Prejudice and watch this movie already!

7. "Love Actually"

Another British movie (I'm starting to realize a trend lol), but trust me, this one is special. This movie blends multiple stories into a beautiful British romcom smoothie. So, break out you tea and crumpets and treat yourself to a movie that you will Actually LOVE.

8. "The Holiday"

Wow. It is safe to say that this movie is definitely one of my all time favorites. It is a mix of British romance (typical) and American comedy. This is also a Christmas movie (i.e. the title), but "The Holiday" is a movie that can be watched year round and even back to back if you have the time. The soundtrack will also have you in tears and will be added to your Spotify playlist as the credits are rolling.

9. "13 Going on 30"

The first time I saw this movie was when I was in the 3rd grade, and it is still one of my favorites today. "13 Going on 30" is timeless and will never cease to make you smile and dance around your room singing Whitney Houston songs. The only prerequisite is to teach yourself the "Thriller" dance before hand. Trust me, it will make this movie that much more enjoyable.

10. "John Tucker Must Die"

If you and your friends are searching for a movie that will take you back to high school and make you want to prank call someone, then this is the movie for y'all. The assortment of strong female leads will have you aching for revenge on the totally lovable John Tucker. In the end, you as well as the protagonist, Kate, will go on a crazy ride finding out who you are and how to get the boy!

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
