The popular boy band, One Direction, suffered a major loss earlier this year; Zayn Malik left the band due to mental health issues. As fans, we try our best to support him. His well-being is the most important thing, but there are times when the pain of losing Zayn is far too much to handle.
Don't get me wrong, One Direction is doing better than ever. Their new single is breaking all kinds of records, they are selling out stadiums around the globe, and they even seem to have grown closer after Zayn's departure in March. Zayn appears to be doing extremely well, too. He has recently signed a new solo deal and is enjoying his time off by partying it up in Las Vegas.
Both parties are happier after the split, yet, there are times and in certain situations when you miss Zayn more than anything:
5. When you look at the band performing on stage and realize, One D is now just four white boys.
WHERE'S THE DIVERSITY?!
4. When One Direction sings ‘Steal My Girl’ live and no one is singing the end riffs.
So, as a single tear rolls down your cheek, you sing them yourself.
3. In the ‘Drag Me Down’ music video.
There's a fan theory that throughout the music video, the boys left a space for our beloved Zayn Malik. Whether this is true or not, his angsty expression is definitely missed.
2. When you look at your 2015 One Direction calendar, and Zayn is still in all of the months following March.
As you flip through each month, the pain just becomes more and more real. If he is still in the September photo, he is still in the band, right? RIGHT?
1. 'Right Now'
You cannot even listen to this One D hit anymore because the pain is just too real. You quietly sing to yourself, "Right now, I wish Zayn was here with me" as your stroke your cardboard cutout.
Zayn Malik leaving One Direction is kind of like a break up. It has been six months and it still feels as if he was in the band yesterday. Maybe one day you will come to terms with Zayn leaving, until then: put on 'Take Me Home,' watch 'This Is Us,' and revel in the beauty of the video where Zayn refused to participate in the dance audition of 'The X Factor.' Happier times, indeed.
