Top Three Female R&B Artists Of The 90’s 90’s R& B is an area of a genre that I am nostalgic about. The 90’s was a great era to grow up with from influences from fashion to the music. Growing up, I had my favorite actors and artists that I looked up to and wanted to be just like. Okay, so I may strike up a debate here so here are my top three female R&B that I believe made a difference and everlasting music and memories in the 90’s R&B world. These three women came and left their mark leaving us with great music and still making music to always listen to.
1. Aaliyah
Aaliyah, yes baby girl we love you and will always miss you. From, “Age Ain’t Nothing But A Number”, to “Rock The Boat”, we have seen this young R&B grow into a talented young woman of the 90’s and 00’s. Aaliyah started off competing in contests singing and eventually landed her career in music at the age of 13.
This young lady has slain the game with her jazz and hip-hop mentality. Making remakes to the Isley Brothers and Marvin Gaye’s music, Aaliyah will always be remembered for that soft high-pitched voice that can not only sing in soprano but also low alto, talk about some talent. Aaliyah, your music will always live on
2. Lisa "Left-Eye" Lopez
Lisa Left-Eye Lopez. Left Eye from TLC, that crazy still sexy and cool female group of the 90’s that made us all wanna sing, “So I Creep…Yeaah”. Yes, Left Eye was a very talented female artist will a beautiful flow to her rapping for the group, the flow in her rap in Waterfalls was just amazing and revealed a lot in society at that time.
Not only was Left-Eye’s fashion a huge statement but her persona it was real, and she spoke the truth. Even though known for some of her outrageous actions, we love your music and your personality and will miss you, Lisa Left-Eye Lopez.
1. Janet Jackson
Janet Jackson. Hey, it’s Janet Ms. Jackson if you’re nasty. Yes, Janet Jackson even though her music started way before the 90’s, Janet Jackson still blessed us with some great R&B music of the 90’s. From, “That’s the Way Love Goes”, to “Love Will Never Do Without You”, and we cannot forget, “Twenty-Four Play."
Janet’s soulful and sassy voice filled with passion played over smooth grooves still has everyone jamming to her music today. Janet still entertains us with her music today, but for now, she will remain in my top three female artists of the 90’s R&B.
