My Top Five Favorite Ways To Procrastinate

I can't be the only one, right?

My Top Five Favorite Ways To Procrastinate

I don't know about anyone else, but when I have too many things to do, I get super overwhelmed. One would think that the best thing to do in this scenario would be to make a list and knock that baby out one item at a time. Well, I tend to do the complete opposite. I am a master of procrastination. Here are my top five favorite things to do instead of what I should be doing.

5. Organize things that are already hyper organized.

In my kitchen, everything has a place. The cupboards are meticulously organized and clean. But if there is something that I should be doing, I will always choose to organize the kitchen again. Maybe the pots and pans should be switched around. Maybe I should organize the canned goods by date. Hmm, the freezer is a bit packed, I should see if I can make some room. It's a sickness really.

4. Walk my dog.

Typically, Kesha goes out twice a day. Once in the morning and once at night. When I have a ton of stuff going on she gets to go out as much as she wants. Oh, you wanna walk around the apartment complex for the 5th time--let's go. Maybe we should go to the dog park even though it's muddy which means we need to get a bath afterwards. Perfect, let's waste ALL the time.

3. Look over my finances.

Okay, I like to be in control of pretty much everything. It has to do with my type a personality and affinity to be super anal retentive. Anyway, I like to look at what bills I have, how much money we have, and how I could change some things around in order to save a few dollars. I could spend hours doing this. I have spreadsheets, my planner, my mobile apps for both banks, and usually a notepad. I'm sure it isn't normal to do that, but hey it beats having to do whatever I should be doing.

2. Memes

I love memes. I love to find new ones, old ones, inappropriate ones, ones that are too soon jokes, you name it, I love them all. I can spend hours between Facebook, Pinterest, and Google finding new ones to send to my friends. Eventually I feel like I might see all of the memes, but that's why they have meme generators so you can make your own. Holla!

1. Netflix and chill

I am really good at binge watching. For example, I started watching How I Met Your Mother approximately 2 weeks ago and I am currently on season 6. If I have stuff going on I would much rather ignore it completely and just watch me some mindless television for hours. It's completely normal.

So there you have it folks, a list of all of my favorite ways to procrastinate. Disclaimer, I did all of these things while procrastinating writing this week's article because well, I suck. :)

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.
