Book are great, don't get me wrong, but they can sometimes take days (even weeks) to read. What I like to do when I have a quick flight or train ride and need to kill some time is reach for a magazine. Some us prefer those oh-so-addicting gossip magazines (you know who you are). However, there are the fashion folk, like me, who reach for one of the glossies. Most people usually reach for giants like Vogue, Elle, and Harper's Bazaar to expose them to the latest trends and fashion stories. These are great for a general look at fashion, and can be picked up at almost any magazine stand. But, just like dating to get over your ex, you need to try new things. Join me in breaking out of your magazine comfort zone, and get ready for slew of magazines that will broaden your knowledge of fashion, beauty, design and art.

For all of the pop art fans and newspaper readers, Interview magazine is calling your name. It was founded by Andy Warhol and John Wilcock, a British journalist in the late sixties. Hence the name, many of the stories in the magazine focus on interviews with major celebrities and other influential names. The juicy part? The interviews aren't edited. So you get to read everything that was said and not have any mistakes or hiccups left out. The magazine only features the most creative minds from fashion to art. Check out interview magazine to see the latest issues and stories.

If you want to be globally informed of all the trends from Paris to Milan, Porter is the magazine for you. Bi-monthly, this magazine targets woman who want to see smart style. They know crop-tops are in, but would never be caught wearing one. They stick to longer hemlines and neutral hues. Speaking of smart, this magazine is tech-savvy and has a digital edition on top of the glossy package that is delivered to your door.

If you find yourself binge watching Gossip Girl and constantly watching Million Dollar Matchmaker, Ocean Drive is for you. On top of keeping its viewers on top of the latest trends in fashion, beauty, art, travel, real estate and entertainment, it provides insight into high society. Just a heads up, the magazine is HUGE. Once you are done reading through it, it is the perfect coffee-table book that is becoming more and more common in homes. Website: oceandrive.com

Conde Nast publishes over twenty print and digital media brands from Vogue, Bon Appetit to GQ. Created by James Brady, the monthly magazine is often a subject of discussion. Many of its covers feature controversial issues that leave its readers (and haters) talking. Their most famous was "Domestic Bliss", featuring Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, which showed the idea of the irony of the perfect family.

A unique touch the magazine has is its featured designer homes. Marc Jacobs and other well-known designers and celebrities have allowed W to tour their homes and write stories on them. Like Ocean Drive, W Mag is oversized and makes as an equally chic coffee table book. Website: http://www.wmagazine.com

Only two annual issues, VVV Mag is the definition of quality over quantity. The magazine hopes to inspire its readers through single frame images that feature fashion and beauty trends. Not only are the industries top photographers capturing these images, but also upcoming photographers. Likely the least known out of the magazines in this article, VVV will not fail to impress its readers with its high resolution photography.Website: vvvmag.com

Nylon is more well known but still not as widely read as the typical glossies. Stay on top of the game and start reading it, stat. The bold logo and colorful colors remind me of reading a 90s magazine, which makes sense since it was co-founded in 1999. Mostly popular in Asian markets, it covers stories ranging from technology and travel to art and design. If you are looking to read more than just the latest trends, I recommend Nylon. In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
