Off The Beaten Path Spring Break Locations

Of course, many automatically assume PCB and South Padre Island are the top two Spring break destinations for college students. However, there are so many other college trip spots that should be included that many would not guess. Sure, some locations may be a bit more pricy, but it doesn't get better than a week with your best friends lounging by the pool all day and taking on the local night life.

1. The Atlantis Hotel, Nassau Bahamas
My cousin who graduated from the University of Iowa took a trip here his sophomore year of college with his six best friends. Yes, some of the rooms at this hotel are quite expensive, but the Coral or Beach Towers which are further away from the main area offer nice accommodations for a price range that is closer to a college students budget.

2. New Orleans, Louisiana
There is no party like a party on Bourbon Street. From the insane amount of bars, music and not to mention incredible food, New Orleans is a trip you would never forget.

3. Miami, Florida
My last trip to Miami was with my parents and my best friend our freshman year of college. After visiting, it is clear that the night life atmosphere is definitely better when you are 21, but there is still so much to do and the beach was mostly all college kids. We met many different people and explored South Beach and did a lot of shopping.

4. Montego Bay, Jamaica
Jamaica is the best of both worlds. It has a laid back resort atmosphere during the day where you can indulge in more aquatic sports than you could imagine. By night, Jamaica has low-key party spots and some of the best rum in the world.

5. Scottsdale, Arizona
I know there is no beach, but after taking a trip here with my mom a few years back, I fell in love with the desert sun and the different lifestyle in the West. This year my cousins and I are driving from Scottsdale to Lake Havasu, Arizona and staying in a hotel on the lakefront!

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

It's not all morning coffees and singing along to the radio.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

I've been in college for four years now. I spent half my time as a commuter and half as a resident so I've experienced both sides of the housing spectrum. One thing I've learned comparing the two is that my struggles as a commuter far outweigh anything I went through while living on campus. Commuters have to deal with the problems school brings along with a slew of other issues; I've filled up my gas tank in the worst kind of weather conditions and napped in random places in public more times than I'm proud to say of. This is a list of some of the most challenging aspects of being a commuter.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!
