Top 10 Christmas Movies to Put You in the Holiday Spirit

Freeform's (ABC's) 25 Days of Christmas is iconic and loved by many. With the holiday's approaching fast, children and adults alike turn to the beloved Christmas and holiday movies that play each night. These movies bring about the feelings of family, togetherness, love and joy. Adults revert back to their childhood selves and begin to remember their own holiday memories and traditions, and try to instill these beliefs into their own children's lives. These movies are part of the reason why this is the most wonderful time of the year.

1. Elf

It's not surprising that this movie has ended up on this list. Most people can quote this movie word for word. Buddy the Elf will have you laughing until the very end when everyone joins in singing Christmas carols, and you'll realize the power holiday cheer has on you and everyone around you.

2. The Santa Clause

This movie is loved by people of all ages. The series is full of wonderful surprises, and allows a child's belief in Santa Claus to go much further when his dad truly becomes Santa. A must watch each holiday season.

3. Home Alone

This classic movie is loved by everyone. It is a movie that can be seen as deep and meaningful, but is also lighthearted and funny for the holiday season. You can watch this movie over and over again, it never gets old.

4. Love Actually

This movie makes people remember that love is all around us, even when we don't think it is. It is just waiting to be seen and brought into your life. Through the stories of many people and the different lives they live, it is easy to see almost every type of love that exists.

5. How the Grinch Stole Christmas

In my family, watching this movie has become a Christmas Eve tradition that we all look forward to each year. The Grinch, a strange, and unique but lovable character has wiggled his way into our hearts and has become a cherished memory for all of us.

6. Miracle on 34th Street

This movie is loved by both children and adults. It is sentimental, but also a feel-good movie that is full of holiday cheer. If this isn't on your Christmas movie list, it should be.

7. Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer

This movie, though made for children displays a concept that should be employed by all. Equality, fair treatment and love. Rudolph is a classic example of the underdog rising to the challenge and proving all of his naysayers wrong.

8. Frosty the Snowman

Frosty is a character that beyond all is shows love and compassion. Not only does he explicitly spread holiday cheer, but he also loves the children he spends his time with and would do anything for them. Frosty is a true friend.

9. The Polar Express

The story tells of unparalleled belief and where that can take you in life. If you believe please board the polar express.

10. It's A Wonderful Life

A classic second chance story that is filled with Christmas spirit, and love that shines bright. This movie is heartfelt, feel-good, and beautiful. A story for the ages.

Happy watching! Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year!

10 Thoughts Of A 5th Year Senior

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.

Aubrey Plaza is one of my favorite humans in Hollywood. She's honest, blunt, unapologetic, and hilarious. I just started my sophomore year of college, and found that some of her best moments can accurately describe the start of the school year.

1. When your advisor tells you that you should declare a major soon.

2. Seeing the lost and confused freshmen and remembering that was you a short year ago, and now being grateful you know the ins and outs of the campus.

3. Going to the involvement fair to sign up for more clubs knowing that you are already too involved.

4. When you actually do the reading required for the first class.

5. Seeing your friends for the first time since last semester.

6. When you're already drowning in homework during syllabus week.

7. Realizing you don't have the same excitement for classes as you did as a freshman.

8. Going home and seeing people from high school gets weirder the older you get.

Dear Mom,

You took care of me and my brothers our entire lives and you still continue to! I will not be able to truly grasp all of the hard work that you put into this family until I create my own one day. But, I know that there are plenty of times I forgot to give you a simple thank you or an appreciative smile. I thank you for everything that you have done for me and will continue to do for me. Here are some examples of those times where you had my back and I forgot to pat your back for saving me:

College is hard. As people ages 18-22, we’re just trying to figure out what we’re doing with our lives, our careers, our eating habits, exercise routines, sleep patterns, and other necessities for adult life. We definitely don’t take proper care of ourselves; it’s basically impossible when we have essays, tests and readings due and somehow we’re supposed to eat right, exercise and sleep. We’re doomed to get sick. I have zero experience in science but when I get sick there are certain things I do to make myself better.
