It’s nearing finals week here at lovely Keuka College, and I know that there are some apps that I have on my phone that I can’t live without. These apps are only five of the many on the list that allow me to continue through the toughest week of the semester.

1. Spotify

Who doesn’t like to listen to some great jams while working? For me, at least, I need to be able to listen to something while working and music is typically my go to. Right now, I’m listening to Meant to Be by Bebe Rexha! Spotify is a music app that lets you save songs that you find interesting and that you can listen to later. It also makes daily mixes for you to listen to when you are not sure what you want to listen to. I do not think I could be as productive as I am now without having some kind of music playing in the background while I work. Music is the mental escape for my brain to relax while I am working through the toughest week of the semester.

2. iFunny

iFunny is a great app for when I need to take a quick break from working. iFunny typically puts out “features” every so often throughout the day and memes that are promoted from the endless “collectives” selection. iFunny gives me the quick reprieve that I need when I am sick of work and just need a good laugh. Little brain breaks are important for working, right? I think so.

3. Dunkin' Donuts

Who doesn’t enjoy a nice, refreshing, tasty, cold coolatta at the hottest point of the day? I know I do! The Dunkin' Donuts app is symbolic of the times when I need to get off campus and treat myself to a two-dollar coolatta. Dunkin' Donuts has essentially become my second most visited place this semester. It also doesn’t help that I have friends who enjoy going there as well (you know who you are).

4. HQ

Those of you who know what HQ is understands the high you get when you’re coasting through the questions and getting win after win after win. HQ is a trivia app on your phone that asks you a series of questions, and if you answer them all correctly, you win money! The hype of going through the quiz is another quick reprieve from the work that should be completed.

5. YouTube

It seems that all of these apps on my list are for distraction, and YouTube is no different. I use YouTube when I am lying in bed and can't sleep. YouTube lets time flow by without needing to worry about the stress of school work. Without YouTube, I don’t think I could fall asleep at night. Let’s be real though, how many of us can actually fall asleep without some form of technology before bed?

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
