Top 8 Netflix Shows To Watch When You Have Nothing To Watch

Netflix — we all love it. It is usually what prevents us from doing what we are actually supposed to be doing. We all binge watch Netflix much more than we would like to admit. I have discovered some of my favorite shows through Netflix, but the worst part about Netflix is that empty feeling you feel once you have completed the show you just dedicated four months of your life to.

Whenever I finish a Netflix show, I usually can't decide what I am going to watch next. It becomes this huge process where I end up asking half of my friends their favorite Netflix shows and I still don't know what to watch. To help people avoid this crisis, here are my top eight Netflix shows and hopefully, when you finally finish that show, you won't have too much trouble finding a new show.

(Not in any specific order)

1. "Sons of Anarchy"

Oh my gosh, this show has everything in it. Drugs, love, family; you name it and they probably have it in the show. This show is about a guy named Jax Teller trying to figure out his life while in a motorcycle club. He tries to balance his family and being a new dad with the responsibilities of his motorcycle club. He struggles to find this balance as more and more secrets are revealed about his late father and the motorcycle club. I watched this whole show in about 3 months and I was addicted the whole way through. There is never a "dull" moment or season in this show. I definitely recommend this show, but if you can't handle blood and people getting killed, then maybe it isn't for you.

2. "Grey's Anatomy"

Oh, "Grey's Anatomy" has my heart. I was reluctant to start this show at first because it was so popular, but my first year of college I watched all eleven seasons in about five months. "Grey's" follows surgeon Meredith Grey throughout her medical career. Starting when she is merely an intern and following her and her colleagues' journies throughout the show. This show never has nothing going on. With several plots in every episode, it keeps you hooked throughout the series. There is always change going on between the characters, the situations and with Meredith which keeps the show very interesting. A piece of advice if you decide to watch "Grey's": Do not get attached to any of these characters. It will save you a lot of tears.

3. "Bob's Burgers"

Tina Belcher is actually my spirit animal. My brother and I actually watched the premiere of "Bob's Burgers" when it first came out and my family has been in love since. "Bob's Burgers" is about Bob and his family running their restaurant and all of the hilarious obstacles and situations that are thrown at them. Between battling their nemesis Jimmy Junior while Tina is in love with his son and Louise reeking havoc, this show offers a lot of laughs. Also, the characters are very relatable, especially Tina. This show is hilarious and you definitely will not regret bingeing this one!

4. "One Tree Hill"

I just started watching "OTH" and I am absolutely in love and addicted. "OTH" is about teenagers in a small town called Tree Hill and two estranged brothers playing on a basketball team together. We find out more about the Scott brothers and their family history and we also follow their friends in their adventures through life. Not only does this show have love, drama and a very attractive cast, but it tackles issues that not many shows do these days. "OTH" talks about body image issues, drug problems and many issues that teenagers and college kids do face in today's society. It is easy to understand and relate to what is going on. This show is your typical teenage drama-filled show, but it is addicting.

5. "House of Cards"

"House of Cards" is about Frank Underwood, a Congressman, and his wife Claire taking revenge on all of those in the White House who has done him wrong. This show shows Frank become a manipulative and sly man who slowly starts to take over. His power and manipulation is unreal and you become addicted extremely fast. My friends and I go insane over "House of Cards" and the stuff that goes down. It makes you start to question if this stuff really goes on in the White House. Kevin Spacey's acting is incredible in this series and I highly recommend watching this show. People are put off by it because they think they need to know about politics to understand the show. I know virtually nothing about politics and I understand this show completely!

6. "Gossip Girl"

You know you love me, xoxo! I know I love this show and I love Chuck Bass (along with every other girl in this country). "Gossip Girl" follows the "Upper East Side's elite" and their adventures through school and life while every move is being tracked by an anonymous blogger. Along with the drama, love triangles and plot twists, we see the group of elites change and fight as the series goes on. You see each character change and transform as the series goes on. By the end, you will love all of them; especially Chuck!

7. "How to Get Away with Murder"

Over winter break, my friends and I discovered "How To" and Shonda Rhimes has blessed us once again. This show is for people who love to solve mysteries and love crime shows. This show follows five law students and their brilliant, scheming law professor and how their lives change once they are involved in a murder. The show plays out through flashbacks and flash-forwards so you throughout the season you are trying to put together what exactly happened. Trust me, nothing is ever what it seems in this show, but it is a brilliant show!

8. Breaking Bad

Shoutout to one of my best friends, Frank, for literally forcing me to watch "BB." "Breaking Bad" is one of the best television shows I have ever watched because it isn't the typical television show. This show is about a chemistry teacher who teams up with a former "bad boy" student to start cooking meth. Walt, the chemistry teacher, has recently been diagnosed with lung cancer and wants to make a good amount of money for his family before he dies. What starts off as a small business turns into something neither of them ever expected. We see Walt live a double life of an innocent chemistry teacher with cancer and a drug cooker. This show is always bringing in new characters and situations, which makes the show interesting. Season one is a little slow because they are setting it up for the rest of the series, but power through. Trust me, you won't regret it!

I hope that my shows/show descriptions helped bring possible new Netflix shows into your life. Happy bingeing!

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
