Anyone who knows me knows I love cats. I probably talk about my own cat too much. Although I've only had one cat in my life, I've grown a huge appreciation for all different breeds of cats so I thought I'd share some of my favorite breeds! These are in no particular order.

1. American Shorthair

Origin: North America

Of course I had to start this list with my own fur baby. My family has a 14-year-old American shorthair named Moxie and he is my entire world. American shorthairs are a pretty standard breed and there's not much that sets American shorthairs apart. To me, they just look like your basic cat, but I'm still biased towards them because I love my son.

2. Maine Coon

Origin: Maine, United States

I will never stop talking about these beauties oh my God. Every time someone posts a Maine Coon in the Facebook group Catspotting I get so excited. My mom and grandma used to have Maine Coons and ahhhh they're so big and fluffy and GORGEOUS. They're one of the biggest cat breeds. I love them so much. I definitely see myself owning a Maine Coon in the future.

3. Norwegian Forest Cat

Origin: Norway

I love Norwegian Forest Cats for the same reason I love Maine Coons. THEY'RE BIG AND FLUFFY. I know long haired cats shed a lot but they're so gorgeous!!! And so MAJESTIC!! I find I'm drawn to cats from cold, northern places, like Norway, and Maine. I also love breeds from Russia and other parts of northern Europe. I just want to hug them all.

4. British Shorthair

Origin: United Kingdom

The British cousin of my fur baby. Their faces are smaller than American shorthairs and you just wanna squeeze their little cheeks!! They have big gorgeous eyes and they make me happy.

5. Sphynx

Origin: Ontario, Canada

These kitties do not get enough love. Okay so the whole hairless cat thing is "ugly," but I swear they're so cute and just as lovable as any other cat. I'm so intrigued by sphynxes. They're so wrinkly and weird. Appreciate them.

6. Siberian

Origin: Russia

What did I say about northern, cold climate cats? FLUFF. Look how gorgeous this boy is. I want to hug him.

7. Russian Blue

Origin: Russia

I've always been fascinated by these cats. They have this weird coat color that's technically gray but the more you look at them, they do look blue-gray. They look like good fuzzy kitties.

8. Munchkin

Origin: United States

Okay I know I went on and on about big cats, but small is also great. Munchkins are what you'd expect: SMOL. They have short little legs and fluffy bodies and ahhhhhh they're so cute. They're like the Dachshund of cats.

Obviously I didn't include every cat breed because that would be a 65-item listicle that no one wants to read. But these are my favorite cat breeds. What are yours?

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
