Top 7 Attributes of Good Boyfriends

Having trouble deciding if he's relationship material?

Top 7 Attributes of Good Boyfriends

Maybe he is a gem; maybe you are never, ever getting back together. This list will help to determine if he is worth the effort. Whether you are in a loving relationship or a complicated situation, we can all benefit from reading about these qualities.

1. He’s open, honest, and gives you good reason to trust him. Good boyfriends are transparent about their feelings, and they do not give you an opportunity to doubt them. So, don't think he's so sweet for being honest with you about how hot his co-worker is; that is obviously a red flag. If he is being shady about your relationship and wants to keep you a secret in public or on social media, time to break up the nonsense.

2. He does not use “too busy” as an excuse. No matter how tired a great boyfriend is, you will not have to nag him to stay up to talk. The sound of your voice makes him happy, and he genuinely wants to hear it!  If he is too busy watching TV or eating dinner, speaking with you is a waste of both of your time.

3. He is a guy you are excited to introduce to your friends and family. And you do not need to coach him on the drive over. Stop thinking you can change him; a good boyfriend will be someone you are so lucky to have in your life and everybody you introduce him to will easily be able to see that. If you are worried about what your friends and family think, you should probably worry about what you think.

4.He is interested in your life and your interests. He does not just talk about his job without asking you about your life, as well. He is excited to try new activities that you might enjoy together instead of taking you to watch football again and again. He never responds to an “I love you” or “good night” text from you with a mere "thanks!” A good boyfriend would give you more of his lovin’ without thinking twice; he would not be so self-centered.

5.He is a good listener who wants what would make you happiest. He will not make you feel irrational and is able to be objective. He would not complain to his buddies about you, or leave you feeling ashamed or guilty. A good boyfriend would be understanding about your concerns. They would also support your goals and wouldn't try to change your future decisions. He will support you and encourage you to be the best you that you can be! If he ever makes you feel stupid, then maybe you are stupid for letting him stick around for so long.

6. He’s easy to please and is grateful -- a Saturday night and Sunday morning kind of friend. You should not have to spend too much money or put on lots of makeup to satisfy him. It will be a blast no matter if you two are trapped in a dumpster or going to the symphony.

7. He knows how to make you laugh. Does he go out of his way to make you smile? Both of you should want to make the other smile as often as possible. Whether with flirty texts to get you more excited to see him, or subtle surprise notes in your makeup bag, they make every day amazingly memorable, miraculous, and filled with smiles.

There are lots of qualities of great boyfriends to add to the list. Do not stay stuck in a relationship with someone that doesn’t embody what you think is important. If you are a happy girlfriend or boyfriend, send a “thank you, I love you” right now! And if you are saying “uh-oh :-/” regarding any of these attributes, time to put your deuces up. Happy Valentine’s Day!

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
