The Top 6 Reasons Why Halloween Season Is The Best

If you've gone to Target recently, you'll know that it's officially Halloween season. I've always loved scary movies and rides, so I may be a little biased, but Halloween is one of my favorite times of the year. I present to you, the top six reasons why Halloween season is the best:

1. Halloween Movies

If you watch ABC Family, you should love Halloween just as much as I do. Why, you ask? MOVIES. Nothing is better than snuggling with blankets on the couch, hot cocoa in hand, staring endlessly at the television screen. Between the sexy Sanderson sisters of "Hocus Pocus" and the daily reruns of the entire "Harry Potter" series (as opposed to the usual once a week reruns), Halloween movies are by far the best ones to watch.

2. Candy

Halloween candy is pretty much good for everyone, especially dentists' businesses. I don't care how strict your parents growing up were, when it came to Halloween, you snuck every little bit of candy into your pockets and bag as you could. If your teeth aren't permanently stained with chocolate and air heads and if your breathe doesn't reek of peanut butter, you're doing Halloween all wrong. The worst part about growing up is that it is no longer socially acceptable for you to go trick-or-treating. However, stealing from your bowl at home is always a good substitute.

3. Halloween Parties

No matter what your age is, Halloween parties are always a good time. For one night (or if you're an adult, most likely two or three nights), you get to dress up like anything you want. It's kind of like getting the Hannah Montana double-life experience but then going to a convention where everyone else is doing the same thing. I love seeing how creative people can get with their outfits and always wonder what will be the most scandalous/skimpy costume the night will bring. As a child/teenager, Halloween parties means bobbing for apples and seeing who can buy the best costume from Walmart. It also means trading candy as if you were dealing on the black market. "I'll give you thirty Whoppers for one Reese's" (where the loser in this deal is clearly the person who gets the Whoppers). As an adult, Halloween means wearing as little clothing as possible and accepting the fact that whatever you end up drinking will most likely be a weird green or red color. The best part about Halloween parties is seeing the transformation between the child you and the adult you. That cute bunny costume you looked adorable in at 10 looks a lot different when you try to squeeze into it at 20 and pretend like you have enough clothes on.

4. Fall weather and clothes

If you don't love the feeling of waking up on a cold crisp morning, bundled up in blankets, then you don't know what true comfort is. After finally accepting that summer weather is gone, there is a clear 180-degree turn around when you see how in love with fall weather everyone is. Trees look beautiful and make for good Instapics, you get to rock awesome fall sweaters and have that bundled feeling all day, and fall weather means boots season, hat season, and scarf season. The best part about fall clothes is that unlike getting bundled up for winter, a sweater and a nice hat is comfortable and extremely fashionable. Fall weather also means plaid season. Plaid button downs, plaid earmuffs, plaid jackets, plaid underwear, plaid everything.

5. Fall activities

There's some sort of spell that casts over all when fall arrives. Magically, everyone loves apples and apple picking, getting scared to the point of almost peeing is fun, and getting lost in a field of corn is entertaining. Although I can't explain this, I must agree that fall activities are my favorite. Apple picking is just extremely soothing and buying an apple pie afterwards that you can pretend you baked is always so delicious. Haunted houses for some reason are almost as addicting as cheese. It's really funny seeing your friends scared sh%tless, while meanwhile you already peed your pants. And for some odd reason, wandering through a corn field for three hours even if you're starving and have to go to the bathroom is just a great time.

6. PUMPKINS

If you're basic like me, you can't deny that pumpkins are the best part of Halloween season. Your usual order of caramel macchiato transforms to a pumpkin spiced latte with a pumpkin muffin. I don't know what type of addicting additive they put in pumpkin flavored food/drinks, but I don't like to question perfection, so I'll leave that unanswered. Halloween season also means carving pumpkins, which always makes for a great date night. Even if you just purchase a pumpkin, it makes your front staircase look a lot more appealing and carving something creative into it gets you bonus points.

Tl;dr: Halloween Season is the best :)

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
