For those native to Indiana may believe the only exciting thing to do is run through some corn fields late at night. However, that is not the case. While researching for some ideas to do for this up coming fall break, I have rediscovered some of the highlights of Indiana. These are the top 6 memorable mentions of places to check out in Indiana.
1) Children's Museum of Indianapolis
This fun and exciting museum is great for the family. It is filled with history, science, adventures and so much more. It will teach your kids things they might never learn in school. Some of the exhibits include: The Dinosphere, Beyond Spaceship Earth, Playscape and Dow Agro-Science Science works. Located downtown Indy, the hours offered are Tuesday-Sunday 10 a.m.-5 p.m. General admission is $22.50 and $18.50 for children.
2) Holiday World & Splashin Safari
Located in Santa Claus, Indiana Holiday World has become a brand name theme park. With each section of he park themed in different holidays such as Christmas to represent the City of Santa Claus and Halloween is another popular section of the park. The park includes coasters such as, The Legend, The Raven, The Voyage and not to forget the Thunderbird Steel Coaster. Splashin Safari includes Mammoth Water Coaster, Hyena Falls and The Zinga just to name a few. They are opened Saturday's from 11 a.m.-8 p.m. and Sunday's from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. general admission is roughly $34.99.
3) Victory Field
Come out and support the community cheering on the Indians during Baseball season. Located downtown Indy, it is a perfect place to take a date. Who knows you might even catch a fowl ball. Hours offered are from Monday-Friday 9 a.m.- 5 p.m.
4) Indianapolis Motor Speedway
If Indiana is known for anything it is the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Best known for hosting the Indy 500, they also will be hosting another race such as 2017 Grand Prix. Hours offered Sunday-Saturday 9 a.m.-5p.m.
5) Brown County State Park and Shopping Outlets
Best for camping trips and hiking trails, Brown County State Park brings back the naturalistic feel of Indiana. Known as "Little Smokies" the park offers Horseback Riding, fishing, indoor swim park, campgrounds and so much more. General admission is $7 and hours offered are Sunday-Saturday 7 a.m.-11 p.m. Brown County hand crafted arts, crafts and gift shops are opened 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
6) Monument Circle
Opened Friday-Sunday 10:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. visitors gather to see the Soldiers and Sailors Monument dedicated in remembrance for those who lost their lives during Revolutionary War, War of 1812, Mexican War, Civil War, and Spanish and American War. The monument is made of entirely of Limestone from Romona quarries of Owen County.
