1. Have you decided on your major yet?
Whether you have or have not decided on your major, you've probably been asked this question about 6,000,000 times and it has gotten old. Most of the time, when you tell your grandmother that you are studying a newer major, she probably doesn't understand what that means and then it leads them to ask...
2. What can you do with your major?
Some majors are more specific than others, but if you're like me, there is a plethora of things that you can do with the things your studying. So,you've come up with the top three most common things people do with your course of study, and people still don't know how your studies turn into those types of jobs, which means you have to explain each class you have taken in the last month in order to try to get them to understand. You end up just becoming frustrated and tell them something vague and leave it at that.
3. Have you finished your Gen Eds?
Unless you came in with a ton of AP or IB or UHS courses, the answer is always going to be no. Considering I have spent one semester taking only gen eds, and two semesters taking two gen eds each, I would like to never think of taking another one again. Please don't remind me. But, if you are one of those kids who has finished their gen eds, you will not be tired of this question. You will proudly exclaim that you have finished them, and you will try to repress the memories of the math classes you had to take to finish them.
4. Have you been to the gym lately?
Well this one is a little more complex. I just got done with finals week so I haven't been able to leave my desk for two weeks, then the week before that I had two ten page research papers due, so that's a no from me, dog. Don't remind me that my physical health has been affected by school.
5. Are you excited to almost be done?
Well, considering the hard part has just begun, absolutely not. I know I have only two full years left, but that's still eight semesters, an internship that I probably won't want to do, and a lot of student loans to be taken out. This also means two more years of living on Easy Mac and chicken flavored Ramen noodles and people throwing up in the sinks in the bathroom, neither of which I really enjoy. I know it seems like not a lot of time for you, but it seems like a lot of work for me.
But life is good.
Even though we are all tired of people asking, and having to answer these questions, things are good. We are living in what adults would call the "prime of our lives", free access to the gym, being only responsible for ourselves, and somehow finding out what we want to do from the many, many gen eds we are taking.
