At the beginning of the school year, I decided I wanted to rush the sororities at my school. I did a ton of research on each sorority and tried to figure out how the experience would go for me. By the time bid day rolled around, I had no idea which sorority I would be running home to and I was pretty excited to find out. I read a ton of stuff about what it feels like to find your sisterhood but nothing could ever explain what it truly feels like to find your home away from home. I can’t possibly articulate all the things I love about Kappa Delta, but I can certainly try.

1. Life in AOT.

All Kappa Deltas know the meaning of AOT and how significant it is to our sorority. It’s one of the many secrets that we share together and we hold it very close to our hearts. The trust, loyalty, and love that holds us together is incomparable, which is something I am so lucky to have found.

2. Always striving for that which Honorable, Beautiful, and Highest.

Ta Kala Diokomen is our open motto that reminds us to always strive for that which is honorable, beautiful, and highest. We know to stay honest in all that we do, to be beautiful both inside and out, and to be the best version of ourselves each day.

3. Building confidence.

With Kappa Delta’s confidence platform, opportunities to build confidence within ourselves and others are always there. Working with Prevent Child Abuse America and Girl Scouts not only allows us to instill confidence in others, but impacting the lives of others gives us a sense of confidence as well.

4. Sisterly support.

I know that I can rely on my sisters any time I need them and they know that they can rely on me. Whether they are sisters from my chapter or sisters from another chapter, I have no doubt they have my back. They are the most genuinely kind and caring group of women that I have had the privilege to call my sisters.

5. Knowing it’s not 4 years — its 4 life.

Throughout my pledgeship, we were told that being a part of Kappa Delta is not just for the four years (give or take a few) we’re in college, but it’s for life. Even after graduation, Kappa Delta will be a part of my life and the bonds I have made will last a lifetime.

My sorority sisters are some of the most incredible women that I know. They inspire me to be the best I can be and I know that I have found lifelong best friends. Kappa Delta will forever be in my heart and it will continue to mold me into the woman I aspire to be.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
