I, as a young adult, have been waiting for this movie to come out, since I was like 6 or 7. I actually find it funny that all the people, who I grew up with, looked like young Dory when we watched Finding Nemo.
I was expecting for this movie to just be a awful sequel because Finding Nemo was so well written. Little did I know that I would actually get quite emotional watching it. I think the whole idea that someone as kind and loving as Dory not being able to recall her family until the beginning of the movie is quite sad. Without spoiling details of the movie, Here is a list of the top 5 things that Finding Dory teaches its audience.
Top 5:
1. Family is not just blood, it's those around you who love you as their own no matter what.
2. Even though we have weaknesses, we should not let them control our lives. We should capitalize on our strengths. Dory's weakness is her memory, but her strength is her bravery and kindness.
3. Good friendships last a lifetime.
4. You always find your way back home.
5. Just Keep Swimming!
The voice of Dory, Ellen DeGeneres, said that Dory was what the world needed right now. With all the hate that is going on around us, she says that she wants to remind people to just keep swimming. Do not let things get to you. Just keep swimming and keep doing the great things that you are capable of. And the story of finding home does not only fit in the literal sense, but also in one's self. Accepting one for who they truly are is one of the greatest achievements an individual can achieve because they are no longer hiding a piece of them from everyone else. They are allowing for the full view of them to be seen. It is amazing how recently, I accepted that message and put it all out there for everyone to see. I will continue to push for others to accept who they truly are and for others to just keep swimming and not let the world get you down. Also, to be kind to one another.
