If you're a roller coaster enthusiast like me, your ideal part of summer are thrill rides. Six Flags Great America, located in Chicago,IL is home to some of the greatest roller coasters in the country. Here are the top 5 roller coasters at this theme park that are sure to give you the best of thrills.

5. X Flight

Coming from the designers of the Raging Bull, SUPERMAN: Ultimate Flight and BATMAN: The Ride, manufacturer Bolliger & Mabillard brings you X Flight. They want you, X Flight recruits, to embark on a top-secret mission on the world’s fourth winged roller coaster. The coaster is suspended on each side of the track where the passengers are seated in pairs with their feet dangling. With no tracks above or below you, on your mission you fly at 55 miles per hour first launching up to a 120-foot hill which descends you into a dive drop, turning you 180 degrees and into an upside down position and transitioning you into a gravity-defying roll into a cloud of fog. Soon after more twists and turns, the coaster heads for the central tower at a 90-degree angle. Making sure you don’t crash, the coaster makes a last second vertical flip before you enter a keyhole opening returning safely from your mission.

4. BATMAN: The Ride

As you take a ride through Gotham City, you’ll experience the world’s first outside-looping roller coaster which takes you 10 stories high and swoops you down 180 feet as you quickly get caught in a 360-degree loop. Traveling at 55 miles per hour, you enter a zero gravity heartline spin, encountering three in total. After the gravity defying spin, you end up in another vertical loop, then a tight helix and end with a corkscrew.

3. SUPERMAN: Ultimate Flight

The creativity from the comics is brought to life in roller coaster style! Superman literally turns you into a superhero as your seats move to put you in a flying position. As you fly across the sky parallel to the tracks, you encounter 115-foot drop and the very first pretzel-shape inverted loop, two consecutive high-speed horseshoe-shaped curves, 270-degree helix and a 360-degree in-line twist. The adventurous coaster will have your body soaring at 50 miles per hour making you twist in the air in all directions.

2. Raging Bull

Upon entering the theme park, everyone is all ready to challenge to the Raging Bull. The runner-up located in the southwest territory attracts park goers with its clear visibility and intimidating height. The ride easily becomes a fan favorite as it is the park’s tallest, fastest and longest thrill coaster. The world’s first “hyper twister” roller coaster lets you ride up 20 stories to 202 feet, dropping you at 65 degrees at a whopping 207 feet, while going 73 miles per hour for almost a mile as you tame it through six inclined loops, steep hills, and an extremely curved helix. You can now experience the Raging Bull in the virtual world with Samsung Gear VR headsets.

1. Goliath

This is unarguably everyone’s new favorite ride and the three-hour wait proves it. There’s only one word to describe this coaster: adrenaline. Everything about this ride is great, including its incredible speed, its heart-stopping drop, its remarkable height and its shocking twists and inversions. Holding three world records, for the world’s fastest wooden roller coaster at 72 mph, world’s tallest drop for a wooden coaster at 180 feet and world’s steepest drop for a wooden coaster at 85 degrees, it definitely makes number one on the list.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

It's not all morning coffees and singing along to the radio.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

I've been in college for four years now. I spent half my time as a commuter and half as a resident so I've experienced both sides of the housing spectrum. One thing I've learned comparing the two is that my struggles as a commuter far outweigh anything I went through while living on campus. Commuters have to deal with the problems school brings along with a slew of other issues; I've filled up my gas tank in the worst kind of weather conditions and napped in random places in public more times than I'm proud to say of. This is a list of some of the most challenging aspects of being a commuter.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!
