Top 5 Restaurants To Experience While At Franciscan University

I have been at Franciscan since the spring of 2014. That is a lot of time to explore the local delicacies and learn all the hot spots. I've compiled a list of my top 5 restaurants every student at Franciscan should visit while they are here.

#5 - Vocelli Pizza

Now this one might not apply to everyone at Franciscan as Vocelli isn't exactly an exclusively local place. A growing pizza place, Vocelli has over 100 locations in 7 different states. As I am from the west coast, it has been a new experience for me. They're just around the corner from campus and simply put, Vocelli pizza is outstanding. Delivery is consistently on time with a few exceptions during the Super Bowl and major holidays when they might be swamped. The workers are always polite and knowledgeable, and they regularly send out coupons in the mail. You can also order online or from their awesome smartphone application. Definitely place an order during your time in Steubenville, you won't be disappointed.

#4 - Chico Fiesta

Being a Californian Latino at Franciscan has presented a huge problem. I crave Mexican food like nobody's business and the lack of taco trucks and taquerias has not been an easy thing to cope with. Luckily, I discovered a hidden gem in Weirton. Chico Fiesta is the perfect fix for a Mexican Craving. They serve what seems to be an endless amount of chips and salsa while you wait for your meal. If you're craving a drink on the stronger side, their alcohol menu is great. Their menu is diverse and sure to satisfy. Personally, I am fond of their enchiladas and beans and rice. I'm an absolute sucker for beans and rice.

#3 - Hu Nan

We have a bunch of Chinese options here in Steubenville and finding the right place was not easy. Some places actually deliver and that is actually a new experience for me with Chinese food. While that convenience is alluring, the quality of the food isn't always worth it. When I discovered Hu Nan in downtown Steubenville, I finally found the best Chinese Restaurant in town. The food is outstanding and I cannot rave enough about how fresh it all is. I am really particular with broccoli beef and their's is the best I have ever had. They serve green tea with meals which is a common tradition with Chinese cuisine. You can also start your meal with a delicious egg drop soup and of course, end your meal with a fortune cookie.

#2 - Burgatory

While at Franciscan it is important to take advantage of everything the neighboring town of Robinson has to offer. One restaurant there you absolutely have to experience is Burgatory. In my honest opinion, its the best burger place around. It even satisfies my cravings for IN-N-OUT while I am at school. Burgatory is seriously the real deal folks. Build your own custom burger and enjoy a delicious hard milkshake. You'll be rolling your eyes after every bite. Inside you'll find a clean and sleek atmosphere. It feels like some serious burger science goes on in there. The only downside is the wait. Make sure to set at least 45 minutes aside to be seated, its so popular that the wait is consistently insane. Trust me when I say its worth it.

#1 - Drover's Inn

If Jesus was still on Earth today, I am almost positive that buffalo wings and beer would be his favorite food and drink combo. Although Zalinski's is a campus favorite for Wednesday nights, Drover's Inn puts all other wings to shame. A decent variety of flavors and a huge beer list is the foundation of their greatness but Drover's has something for everyone. Converted into a restaurant in the late 60s, Drover's still has the look and feel of the Inn it once was and is actually a historic landmark in the national register. Also, be sure to check out the rustic Tavern in the cellar. It pains me to admit that Drover's has the best wings I have ever had. Once I leave Franciscan, Drover's is going to be a rather long drive from my home in California. Make sure to visit while you can, because I promise you, it won't be your last visit.

Alright Frannies, theres the top 5 restaurants to visit while at Franciscan University. Now get out there and get your grub on.

Friendship. It's defined as the state of being attached to another person by feelings of affection or personal regard, but what really is friendship? Is it that occasional hallway talk with that one person who always manages to cheer you up? Is it that relationship you have with someone where they can be gone for a long period of time, but when they come back, it's like they never left? Is it spending every waking hour with someone, and knowing every detail about their life? Is it the relationship that's filled with fighting, but filled with even more resolution? I've learned that it's all of these things, and every friendship is different. It's a beautifully dysfunctional mess that should always be cherished and never be taken for granted.
